Historia
Fighting, apocalyptic quests, endless danger—it's nice to get a break from that kind of thing sometimes. Why not escape into a world where fighting isn't the only way to level up? Come to a place where you'll get a mug of tasty beer and a bowl of hearty winter stew to warm your belly. A place with bookstores owned by grouchy satyrs, and bakeries where delicious sweet treats are guaranteed. Does that sound like just what you need? If so, you're in luck.

Boring
Revisado: 03-22-25
this is a book that was just tacked on for extra money. There's not much of a plot, and the story is just boring 😴 Very disappointing, when compared to the other books.

Come to a place where you'll get a mug of tasty beer and a bowl of hearty winter stew to warm your belly. Relax in a tavern on a cozy winter evening with the gentle flames of a hearth flickering nearby. Does that sound like what you need right now? If so, you came to the right place. Josh and his fellow builders are expanding Blade's Rest with the dream of achieving "town" status one day. This means there's a lot of work to do, problems to solve, ales to savor, and pies to enjoy. But as Josh discovers, the bigger your settlement, the bigger your headaches.

I still like it for the Main character 's background.
Revisado: 03-20-25
I still like the book series for the main character's background. Instead of being transported or reincarnated into a fantasy universe, the main characters are gamers existing in the game world. This type of story is rare in this genre.

Historia
Blade & Sheath is a fully immersive VRMMORPG game where some folks complete quests, while others develop their magic and battle monsters. Then there are players like Josh. He needs to earn some cash, so when he gets a job as a town builder for Blade & Sheath, he can't believe his luck. However, it won't be easy. The land he needs to build on is as untamed as the critters that prowl it. That's not all—he also starts with no skills and no resources.

Good Town Building Story
Revisado: 03-16-25
This is a good town building story that differs from most LitRPGs. Instead of someone who dies or otherwise gets transported to a game/magic universe, the protagonists are gamers playing inside a game. The storytelling focuses on their activities inside the game and seamlessly transitions between game and RL.

Earth is conquered. The Shongairi have arrived in force, and humanity’s cities lie in radioactive ruins. In mere minutes, over half the human race has died. Master Sergeant Stephen Buchevsky, who thought he was being rotated home from his latest tour in Afghanistan, finds himself instead prowling the back country of the Balkans, dodging alien patrols and trying to organize the scattered survivors without getting killed.

Good, Until the Terrible and Lazy Ending
Revisado: 01-11-25
👍 The narrator is perfect for voicing the Extra Terrestrials. His voice makes me think of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'.
🤜 Too bad there isn't another narrator for the Humans.
👍 The story is great, overall. I especially like the psychological differences between species.
👎 The ending is awful. Vampires... Seriously?! It's like the authors were running against a deadline and needed literally needed to use the literary version of laziness to end the story.
👎 And then, the overt religiousness of the ending too. It's like the authors were trying to piss off their fans.
⚠️ This is probably the worst book I've read by David Weber. And I'm a huge fan of his.

Historia
Welcome to the second book in the Honor Harrington main series of books. Let’s continue our journey into the Honorverse! The second book in the series is titled “The Honor of the Queen”. Like the first book, it was also published in 1993 by Baen Books. This one ran 422 pages. The events in this story take place approximately three years after the events that occurred in “On Basilisk Station”. After a strong setting of the stage in the first novel, David Weber tosses us right into the action in this second book—and that’s almost an understatement! Honor is selected to be the ...

The Discussion is Mostly Good, But...
Revisado: 09-25-24
The overall discussion is good and the topics discussed are great. However, it's grating how we have a fanboy who chimes in and sort-of sounds like, "Shart" from 'The Mayor of Noobtown' (LitRPG). Then we have some guy who it's evident he's not interested. He can't even read the dang book well enough to truly participate in the discussion and the other two guys have to carry and prod him along. The 3rd guy is okay in my book.

Historia
Not too long from today, a new, highly contagious virus makes its way across the globe. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu, fever, and headaches. But for the unlucky one percent - and nearly five million souls in the United States alone - the disease causes "Lock In": Victims fully awake and aware, but unable to move or respond to stimulus. The disease affects young, old, rich, poor, people of every color and creed. The world changes to meet the challenge.

A great story of how civilization may change after a pandemic.
Revisado: 07-27-24
This is a great story of how civilization may change after a pandemic that causes debilitating and chronic conditions. I think it may be a bit too optimistic given how we saw the western world react to Covid-19.
