Great information on the models, lacking on observational data

I was hoping this book would not only detail the historical perspectives and data on weather models, but also cover critical observations on things like radar along with innovations in radar technology used for many extreme weather events. While the former was covered in depth, I can only recall the word “radar” being used once or possibly a handful of times in context of a satellite, and was never spoken of again.

This is a great book if your interest is specifically in a more in-depth background of weather models, but it’s lacking in anything relating to observational challenges and specific weather events.

Great insight into Stoicism

I had been introduced to Stoicism by a reading of Marcus Aurelias’ Meditations. This book was on the recommended list following that one, so I decided to give it a listen.

The author does a good job explaining the concept of Stoicism from the view point of Epictetus, framing his writing as a back and forth conversation with the greek philosopher. I found the explanations and insights very helpful in my Stoic journey. The inclusion of thoughts from the mystic to the pure rational and everything in between made for some good mind exercises.

The reader of this book presented it well and did the content justice. I will likely listen to this multiple times to continue my journey.

Interesting for conservatives that have never heard of logical arguments

While it is presenting good information overall, if you have any experience with logic based debate, there is really nothing new here. If you are right leaning politically, you’d likely get a few “ah ha” passages that apply to current political debate today. The author is right-wing and uses those types of examples to explain logical argument types.

However, the reading of this book rubs me the wrong way. The author should have had a professional book reader work with the content. His nature of paused emphasis on phrases (in almost all the wrong places) make it very hard to listen to. It might be better to purchase the text if you are interested in this book and read it on paper in your own head voice.

Book is dumb....Unless read by Samuel L Jackson

There is no one in the world today that I think is better at swearing in such a lively way than Samuel L. Jackson. After being somewhat disappointed in the book version of Go the Fvck to sleep, I found this Audible read version and about busted a gut. So glad that if someone read this it was him.
