This story might be ok but the narrator read too fast. I slowed down the speed of the story but the narration a bit odd. I won't listen with this narrator.

This is just not good. I couldn't get past chapter 7 because I really didn't like the lead character. She's selfish, pathetic and not very smart. I returned it and do not plan to read another in this series.

This is an ok story. It would have been better if Maggie Tall Bear Sloan didn't take so long to connect with her history. I get that when a person is biracial he/she might identify with one race more than the other. In this book Maggie seems to hate her Native American heritage. So much so that she let that hatred blind her to what was in her face the entire time. That made the book hard to complete. The characters were interesting and the plot had potential. However, I don't think I will be reading the next book. I can't watch Maggie refuse to accept part of her heritage and stumble blindly through another investigation.

I'm not sold on this book yet. 1. I don't like love triangles. They are an unnecessary way to add drama to the story and make women look stupid. 2. The story drags too much because of the romantic angle and Sloan trying to figure out who and what she is. 3. The plot and character development is superficial. 4. The ending wraps up to easy. The mystery has been going on for years and all of a sudden it takes a few weeks to solve. I don't think I'll be getting the next one.

This is a poor example of a cozy mystery. The characters are flat and uninteresting. The lead character is preachy, goody too shoes who seems to have everything handed to her. I listened until it put me to sleep. At that point, I gave up and returned it.

I'm a huge fan of the Iron Druid series, so, I decided to give this series a try. I was disappointed early into the book but I forced myself to give it a try. Big mistake. The more I listened, the more I became disconnected to the story. Massey failed to establish a relationship between the main character and the world in which he lives. The characters also flat and disingenuous. I simply couldn't get into it.
