Terrible narrator

I almost returned this book bc I couldn’t stand the narration. I thought, did this person just learn how to read?! The pauses & inflection were in all the wrong places! It ruined…the flow…of…the story. Then I realized it was Nikki Blonsky & I was even more disappointed. She’s an actor! She knows this is not how people talk-even when you’re playing a character. It was so off-putting. I will never listed to another book she narrates again.

So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. Possibly the most excruciatingly boring story I’ve ever listened to with the exception of perhaps an elderly check-out clerk who rambled on about every item I was purchasing (at least that only lasted a few minutes-this story took hours to tell nothing). Spoiler! She’s not a witch. I never thought she was a witch, but I thought there was a story. Nope. A dreadfully boring story told slowly. That’s it. I’m so done with Audible & their horrible algorithm for predicting what I’ll like.

This book was tedious. It was not the “gripping psychological thriller” it was touted to be. The narrator is fine, but does nothing to bring these underdeveloped characters to life. The step-daughter is brought in via phone calls multiple times for apparently no reason because it doesn’t move the story along. I had taken a long break from Audible because they kept recommending books like this (boring). Maybe it’s time to finally cancel.
