Historia
No sooner had Thorn stepped into his new role as Titan of Earth than the enemies of the Duchy pounced, their armies flooding into Ironhold. With barely enough time to plan their defense, Thorn and the Wolfkin are forced into battle against forces that outnumber them five to one. To make matters worse, other guilds who have long eyed Nova Luna’s position, are eager to cut Thorn and his friends down to size. Hemmed in by enemies on every side, the only way to overcome this world shaking challenge is to cut straight through it.

Its great, but...
Revisado: 04-27-25
I did love the series and the book. I took my time due to just being in general distracted by a lot of books. So I finally got to the end and I likely forgot a few things but let me get into what I liked.
I liked that things did get an ending and that Thorn did his best to resolve the issues that the world he was in got a chance to get fixed. We got some revelations and a chase to the next adventure.
Now I want to stress here I won't share spoilers. But things at the end rubbed me the wrong way.
There were certain consequences and actions that I felt weren't tackled well and that is because of my gripes. I understand that there is a lot more of a reasoning for it possibly later on, but at the same time.
I can only equate it to a sour DM moment at the end.
That is the only gripe I can give without being too informative on spoilers.
All in all, loved it and would recommend it.

Historia
Saving a country abandoned by the rest of the world has its benefits—international renown, the expansion of his guild, an invitation to the most prestigious hunter conference in the world—but perhaps the most unexpected bonus is a run-in with another Monarch who brings not-so-welcome tidings. If he’s to be believed, a war is coming that not even Jinwoo is strong enough to stop.

Its okay
Revisado: 02-16-25
I have actually gone through the whole six books, and I will just say this. The narrator, Ki Hong Lee? he does his best do this right. I will give him full props throughout the books and just doing his best.
But my criticism lies in the sound effects that he makes. I can understand why. From what I can tell, the light novels emphasize these sound effects, but then at this point, I'd just be more comfortable in having some stock sfx noises for it all. I am sorry, no offense to you Hong Lee, but its just distracting. I know its already too late to do anything, but I wanted to share my criticism and nothing else in this part of the review.
Now, on to Sung Jin-woo.
To not spoil for those that have come this far, we see a lot more of what Sung and the other hunters are fighting against. The stakes are higher this time as things are getting only more and more difficult. Sung has gotten stronger as to be expected, but that means a whole lot more is riding on his shoulders. So much so that he doesn't even know what the weight is yet.
He has thrown himself off the beaten path of what was expected of him and he's paying for it in his own way. Its going to take a lot more than fancy blades and speed to chip himself out of the consequences yet to come.

Damn
Revisado: 02-15-25
Okay, where to start here? I've had to go through this a few times because I am not sure on how to start this.
To start with, I suppose lets say that I liked how the main character started out. To not spoil, the main character manages to get out of incredible danger by the tip of her tail.
This is an isekai story mind you. But, its not a normal isekai.
Here the demons have more or less won with some holdouts of cities. They are in a bad way though, and while the main character does get stronger, the demons are stronger still. She has to push on with guile, wit and a bit of intellect to get anywhere. But it does follow a few tropes.
Now, I have personal caveats for a few things, but in this case? They don't matter in the long run. What matters is the book and how it stands.
The heroine in this book finds herself a sister. If not in blood, then in spirit, she finds herself friends, adventure, and she learns much about herself, and what it means to be what she is, and many more questions.
But she also learns harsh truths at the pay of others and herself. Lets leave it at that so I don't spoil.
She learns through betrayal that there are those that perhaps don't wish for the sun to come up the next day due to selfish reasons. She learns that this world, for all its fantasy come true, is far more dangerous than one would want, and will need to grow stronger for it.
She will have to find her own way, and I hope to see that come book 2.
I promised a review, and here you are! I hope this spoiler free (or as much as I hopefully could) gives insight to the book!

Performing deeds of online valor is the last thing on Oleg's mind, though. Neither does he care about any ancient lore. He's never trusted adventure, anyway. Mirror World is no place for the likes of him. Still, he's here to stay - at the demand of Reflex Bank, which has granted him a loan for his daughter's hospital treatment. Which is the only reason he's joined the ranks of the defenders of the Maragar Citadel.

Once more, into the breach.
Revisado: 08-31-24
I really don't have an appropriate title that explains my thought process, but I really like this book series so far.
the MC so far remains as a very grounded character just trying his best for the people he loves.
hes willing to shoulder any burden to do so, and inadvertently stumbles upon something more. Something he never really could've fathoms because he entered into Mirror World for what it was.
A game. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
one thing I will say has made the series good so far are competent translators.
I mean that with all due respect to Alexey. Hes a very damn good writer, but his works I don't think would've come out so well without the people that have translated for him.
I can only say I've skimmed a few other books made from Russian authors, and they all fall a bit flat in English, and I've only managed to sink into the Metro series so far.
this is a wonderful tale, and I cant wait to hear the rest!

Historia
As the years start running out, you often find that life has left you completely alone. This is what has happened to one military veteran who’s lived through many of history’s “flash points”. In order to inject some color into his final days, the former soldier signs a contract with a company that has developed a fully immersive virtual world. Project Alpha Rome is a multi-level city plagued by endless wars between humans and mutants. You can play as either species. The best argument in favor of living here is the firepower and the reflexes of your weapons.

An old man, a new world.
Revisado: 03-31-24
I managed to stumble on this gem by pure accident, and I'm glad I did.
Volper as a character is many things, and I like his character. Hell I liked the story so much I grabbed the next two books around halfway through if not more.
I like him because hes in many ways grounded, silly and hardened.
In the early points of the story, Volper has an, well an hormonal incident early on with a young lady, and what I liked about that scene was how much the situation slapped him proverbially in the face. It was a complete surprise, as he was in a body of a young man now.
Its never outright stated his age, but my guess he's at least about 90. So it makes sense of why.
his mind wanders, he has tricks from military experience which lead him to make understandable assumptions made from experience which can make him blanch in face of video game logic, and add to that, he's just trying to enjoy his fading life as it is. And I just like that in a story like this as its immersive and in a way grounded.
To anyone reading this review, I can highly recommend book 1. Not sure on the series, but I'll leave my review on the books as I go through them.

what to expect.
Revisado: 02-22-24
to first start off for those that find such things eother boring or lacking to a book, this has a harem. The author doesn't warn about it so I will.
Thankfully it doesn't go into sex scenes. The author leaves that up to imagination, and that is fine by me.
on that front though, his first girl is 16 years old and the MC is 27. I know Japan has different views on such things, but there is a reason why us in the West will feel iffy about it. This isn't to throw shade at the author, just giving what I feel is necessary to address.
Second part. Hiro (The MC) really needs guy friends. I'm three books in and seriously, the dude needs a relationship that is more then just romantic. He needs a bro, a rival (in a good way) and needs just another man to associate the time he has with. I know this is a power fantasy, but this is just something that is so important, be it a story or real life.
Third, and last are my thoughts.
the story itself isn't a bad one in its take. the Universe is a mix of fantasy and science fiction. Again nothing bad about it, and the lore has a mix of that. of Empires, nobility and what have you.
I find the main character to be an idiot though. He doesn't feel to me like he's 27. He feels more like an 18 year old brat.
There is more to being an adult then just work, overworking yourself in some office or blue collar job. with that age should come some knowledge and experience, and just in general common sense that should work wherever you are.
For instance on how to use your words (you will see what I mean in book 1 & 2 if you go that far,) as the wrong thing said and how you say them matter.
Hiro also trusts too easily and to me isn't cautious enough. I do like the fact though hes reasonably greedy. But there are some things, I just can't agree with.
but thats in any story. I just wished there would be more maturity in a character that is supposed to be at an age where he's hit that maturity somewhat.
But thats just me.

Less Rpg, more fantasy.
Revisado: 11-08-23
Having listened to the book, I can say firmly this is less LITrpg and more an isekai fantasy. why this is set as a Litrpg I don't know, but im hoping this helps those wanting to listen to know that first.
That doesn't draw away from the book, not at all. think of this less set in a game, and more a passable reality to how a normal human being deals with unfortunate and honestly very weird circumstances.
beware as well on hearing the MC deal with identity issues, clear body dysphoria (Hes a guy after all set in an alien female body) and all around moments where you want to cringe (Tea room!) laugh and where you feel really bad for the MC.
Micheal to me is an honest and a relatable character and has his hardships to deal with a plenty. And we will just get more in book 2.

Revisado: 03-21-23
Thorn has become in this book a bit more confident in his abilities as a leader, but learns that with any rise in power, there are challenges.
having just started on this series, I do look forward to what he will do in the next book, and how he will deal with the consequences of his actions.
After all, he has a good heart, a strong mind, but so much yet to learn.
but even then, this dps tank keeps on rolling still!

My master created me for his entertainment, leading adventurers to ruin. Betraying them at the last moment, just when their glorious victory was on hand. I have been found again by the newest member of a quartet of dungeon crawlers. Poor fool. This time will be no different. Or does it have to be? Maybe I don't need to spend eternity left in a deep, dark dungeon waiting to devour would-be heroes. sword & sorcery galore!
Revisado: 08-04-22
If you're a fan of a good sword and sorcery fiction, with a dash of heroics and the meddling of gods, then this is a good story to pick up.
The tale is entertaining as the main star of the books and his cohorts unravel age old mysteries and a plot for power, seek adventures and in general just make a tad of a nuisance of themselves.
as a standalone ome shot, this is a good book to read with an interesting tale. I admit I was a bit afraid that it would leave me at a cliffhanger, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I hope to see more work in this world, and see where things go from there.

All good things must come to an end, Constant Listener, and not even Stephen King can write a story that goes on forever. The tale of Roland Deschain's relentless quest for the Dark Tower has, the author fears, sorely tried the patience of those who have followed it from its earliest chapters. But attend to it a while longer, if it pleases you, for this volume is the last, and often the last things are best.
