Surprising look at someone so lauded in the business world

Ray Dalio seems like so many powerful leaders after listening to this. Intoxicated by his success, he seeks deeper meaning with his Principles, yet like many cult leaders, the standards he holds others to are not applied to himself.

This is supposed to be a "classic", and I had read it in college 30 years ago, but felt that maybe I had missed something because I didn't really love it the first time. I blamed it on youth and perhaps other college distractions, but another listen to the book leaves me just thinking the book is just not for me. I did not find the "mystery" to be compelling, many of the scenes with dialogue seem unnecessarily dragged out. For a 35 hour investment, I was hoping to be blown away, and I was left thinking the story was just "OK".

You know you have a good audible book when you can't wait to listen to it. With an average book, I find myself listening to podcasts, radio, etc to help fill in things and keep myself from giving up on the book. Not with this one, I found it very informative and opened my eyes to a lot of things.

Just read "Shoedogs", story of Phil Knight (Nike) and listening to that story and his hurdles he had to overcome was far more compelling than this.

Yes, interested in Rob's viewpoint.

Rob makes the assertion that writers of the Bible wrote about God as they understood Him in their days and times. Hence the changing perception of God with the changes in culture. I would suggest the same is true of Rob's view of God, it simply reflects our culture today. "Everyone gets a trophy", "Everyone gets into heaven", it is simplistic and irresistible, hence his great following. But like cotton candy, it does not deliver the substance I am looking for.

This is like a dissertation on the mob, it has too many facts and figures and is not a compelling enough story.

If you could sum up The Outsider in three words, what would they be?

I loved Jimmy Connors as a player, but found him less likable as a person after listening to this. Contrast the story with Andre Agassi's, who I grew to like more.........left me a bit disappointed.

The first 5 hours are about the authors life, not the killing of Osama Bin Laden. Took too long to get to the part I wanted to hear about.

The narrator did a great job making the story come to life.

It was just so long, and ultimately the half dozen interesting parts could not offset the dozens of boring parts. I found myself dozing as I listened.
