Historia
Gabrielle has had enough of battles, of wars, of seeing the man she's engaged to nearly lose his life when it isn't even his fight. Once Gary was a gentle and very human researcher. Now he's a fearless and lethal Carpathian warrior with the blood of an ancient lineage coursing through his veins - a man Gabrielle still needs and dreams of with every breath she takes.

A little disappointing
Revisado: 10-30-23
I am absolutely enthralled with this series but this book was a little disappointing. I just couldn't get into either of the couples and felt it was more of a way to close out the Carpathian Mountains arcs than anything else.

Historia
Zev Hunter was an elite warrior, a dark-blood dealer of death to rogue Lycans who preyed on mankind. He was a loner, never given to personal attachments, and damned fierce at his job. But Zev begins to question his past and his purpose when he awakens in the darkness of the sacred cave of warriors - and is soothed back to consciousness by the sensuously familiar voice of one woman, the woman who has haunted his fantasies for centuries. She was Branislava, member of the Dragonseeker clan.

Carpathian excellence
Revisado: 10-21-23
Second time through this book for me and I had to stop and ask myself why it took me so long to read it again. Not only do we get an amazing couple in Zev and Branislava, but we get snapshots of characters from other books that, I at least, have wanted an update on for ages!
This is a can't miss for fans of the Dark series by Christine Feehan and a down right awesome read that is a fast one because you just can't put it down!!! Now all I have to do is catch up on all the missed sleep LOL!!!!!

Love Christine Feehan but.......
Revisado: 09-05-23
I absolutely adore Christine Freeman's dark series, but this book is less exciting. It's slow and I'm not really sure how else to put it. There's not much action until the very end.

Get better narrators
Revisado: 09-16-19
It's really sad that good books are being murdered by such poor narrators as this one. I don't know what has happened to Audible in the past few years, but the quality of their narrators has really gone downhill. This particular narrator made it impossible to finish the audio version of the book and I'm grateful I purchase bot the Kindle and Audible versions so I could finish the story. Took me much longer without the audio because I have serious concentration problems but at least I finished the book in enjoyment.
Audible you really need to start getting better narrators.

Interesting story, not so hot narration
Revisado: 12-26-17
I very much enjoy Alexandra Ivy books and have rarely been let down. This story would have been much more pleasant if the narrator would try harder to add life to the story. She also needs to learn the correct emotions that are needed to draw the reader in. She is so monotone, I'm not a professional narrator , but I could do a whole lot better than how badly this book was read.
I really hate when a good book is brought so low because of the narrator.

Historia
Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate. But there's another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood . . . an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Of course it doesn't hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that?

Can the narration get anymore BORING?!?!
Revisado: 03-04-16
I read this book in paperback and wanted the entire series in e-book and audio, but I am so sorry for doing that I. This narrator is absolutely horrible, no life in the words, no change of cadence or inflection, just one continuous monotonous voice.
I'm really upset about that since I really enjoy this story and the whole series. I see she does 4 other books in the series, here's hoping she improves.

Narrator stuck in Overdrive
Revisado: 05-21-15
The story would have been a lot more enjoyable if the narration hadn't been read like the book was a race that needed running and the narrator couldn't wait to finish. It is really annoying in the parts that should be soft and they are being read with WAY too much energy.

So loving J.R. Ward's books
Revisado: 04-14-15
First, Jim Frangione, he TOTALLY makes the characters come to life. May he forever narrate the BDB books. They just wouldn't be the same without his voice.
Second, Just.R. Ward, can you seriously get better? I don't think so.
The Shadows is, in my opinion, one of the best books in the series. Is it sad? Yes. Do you want it to end differently? Yes. But it is still the best love story I have read in a long time. And as always the author keeps you on pins and needles waiting for the next book.

the second time is better
Revisado: 03-22-14
The second book is better with more action and expansion of the story line. But I still wish they were full length books because the characters could use more depth than you can get in a novella.
The narration is still so poor with no sense of rhythm, no real ability to emote for the characters. The narrator is boring and really harms the story and makes it harder to enjoy what there is of the plot.

interesting story line
Revisado: 03-22-14
The story of the Pantera is interesting and the novellas are written well. I wish they were full length books because the characters could use more depth than you can get in a novella.
It is a shame that the narration is so poor with no sense of rhythm, no real ability to emote for the characters. The narrator is boring and really harms the story.
