Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

Hilarious and Sweet
Revisado: 08-24-24
I still have 4 hours left of this story but I’m rating it 5 stars anyway! This book has had me laughing since the beginning and now, at chapter 12, I just coughed out some sweet tea and peed a little I’m laughing so hard. For those looking for romance and a little orneriness, you get that too. Great work ladies!! I appreciate your creativity with this one.

College student Joe Talbert has the modest goal of completing a writing assignment for an English class. His task is to interview a stranger and write a brief biography of the person. With deadlines looming, Joe heads to a nearby nursing home to find a willing subject. There he meets Carl Iverson, and soon nothing in Joe's life is ever the same. Carl is a dying Vietnam veteran-and a convicted murderer. With only a few months to live, he has been medically paroled to a nursing home after spending thirty years in prison for the crimes of rape and murder.

I really enjoyed both the story and the narration!! This piece had a little of everything: mystery, suspense, romance, awe-factor. All well told by the narrator (which, in my opinion, can make or break a novel when put to audio).

I was pretty good at living without regrets until a way too close call during a skydive. Instead of my life flashing before my eyes, I saw one face, one regret that's been gnawing at me ever since - Presley. And now I know I have to win her back at any cost. Fate steps in when we discover hidden stories from the past. And they're an opportunity I can't pass up. The just might be the path back to the woman I let get away while we chase down a love story a hundred years in the making.

Please, Please Re-record Main Naration
Revisado: 05-11-24
I’m loving where this story is going but the main male narrator is not the right personality for this story. Mixing his elementary narration with the polish that Andi Arendt and Saskia Maarleveld bring to their characters kills this story.

After the way my first love took off for the ends of the earth, the last thing I want is to see him on billboards and bookstore bestseller shelves. Now my boss just handed me the project that could make my career. All I have to do is partner up with the man, the myth, the legend - adventurer Hunter Armstrong. That's easier said than done, because when we reconnect, I learn Hunter has his own agenda on this project. And it's not to find a treasure in art and antiques. It's me. But what we discover shocks both of us, and we have no choice but to follow the clues....

Scott Eastwood?
Revisado: 05-11-24
I don’t believe the male narrator is Scott Eastwood. I’ve heard books narrated by Mr. Eastwood and they are NOT read in this way. As if the narrator was reading the book for the first time and to a room of grade schoolers.

Bullying with a capital B
Revisado: 08-09-22
I couldn’t finish this book. Maybe it gets better. But the first few chapters…. The protagonist is such a bully. Not as overt as the antagonist but regardless, it’s not cool. And I won’t be a bystander to it even through fiction. Even though it’s fiction, I’m sure this is real life too. The author has influence over young readers and should use it more responsibly.

Sounds like the start of a crude joke, right? Yeah, well, the joke's on me because I'm investigating the gorgeous one in the heels with the great body. Jensen Montgomery. Now, I'm treading that area between right and wrong, good and bad, where sin and honor meld to become gray.

The story was good. I especially liked the twist Ms. Asher provided on the over done wealthy, hunky dominant man saves independent but not as wealthy, beautiful or dominate woman. I’ve enjoyed several of Ms. Asher’s novels, this one was a little more difficult to get into. It is my opinion that the narrator(s) can make or break a story. In this case, the narration made the story Meh.

Off Menu is a charming, fun-fact-filled deep dive into the little-known science of food and dining: why we eat what we eat, the nuances of our experience of taste and flavor, and the tiny, easy hacks and tweaks that, when mastered, can make a huge difference in our diets, meals, and relationships with food and drink.

Revisado: 12-03-20
I loved this book! I need it in print so I can highlight, dog ear and write notes in the margins. I learned so much and realize that I now have so much more to learn through my senses and food experiences.
Katie did a great job narrating! If I hadn’t paid attention in the beginning, I would have thought Nell was describing her own discoveries. I love a narrator who tells a story versus just reading one. Nell, Katie, I’ll be looking for more of your works.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Historia
They were the gentlemen bad boys of rock. Forming in a garage in a small town in Indiana. Taking their licks on the road. Going balls to the wall until they made their big break. And then Preacher McCade and the Roadmasters redefined rock and roll. Guided by their tortured lead singer and songwriter, the Roadmasters changed the face of music in the '80s and '90s. And on their journey to becoming one of the most enduring bands in history - dogged by rumors and myth and fueled by drugs and booze - the Roadmasters had one touchstone.

Passionate Gritty Hard and Fun
Revisado: 11-04-19
I throughly enjoyed this book. Ashley creates a story that is so believable it’s difficult to remember it’s fiction. Woven throughout the story is a passionate yet gut wrenching tale of love. She illustrates the ugly side of fame and her characters tell the readers of their adventures in a way that you can feel. I didn’t think I’d like the interview style of this story when I first began listening, however Ashley crafted her narrator/interviewer in a way that made you believe she was sitting in your living room retelling the tale.
