Historia
In a book that took eight years to research and write, leading Bible scholar Bart D. Ehrman explores how an apocalyptic prophet from the backwaters of rural Galilee crucified for crimes against the state came to be thought of as equal with the one God Almighty Creator of all things. Ehrman sketches Jesus's transformation from a human prophet to the Son of God exalted to divine status at his resurrection. Only when some of Jesus's followers had visions of him after his death - alive again - did anyone come to think that he, the prophet from Galilee, had become God.

This is the 2nd listen. Probably the same rating as previously provided, but I enjoyed it even more and I heard things I missed the 1st time.

Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

This is the real story of Huck…
Revisado: 04-07-24
I checked out the audiobook of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as read by Elijah Wood. It did not make the same impression as it did when I was a young boy, but it was well done. It was still an adventure but I recognized the gaps with reality. I had read the reviews of James and I was interested in how the story would present itself. I typically only listen to audio books while I am walking. I walked a lot this week! As an old white man of 77, I felt emotionally as if I was James and I was never sure how I would end up. Again, I recognize the gaps with reality, but It is a story that is well told.

Historia
Time moves forward, not backward---everyone knows you can't unscramble an egg. In the hands of one of today's hottest young physicists, that simple fact of breakfast becomes a doorway to understanding the Big Bang, the universe, and other universes, too. In From Eternity to Here, Sean Carroll argues that the arrow of time, pointing resolutely from the past to the future, owes its existence to conditions before the Big Bang itself---a period of modern cosmology of which Einstein never dreamed.

Historia
Quantum theory is weird. As Niels Bohr said, if you aren’t shocked by quantum theory, you don’t really understand it. For most people, quantum theory is synonymous with mysterious, impenetrable science. And in fact for many years it was equally baffling for scientists themselves. In this tour de force of science history, Manjit Kumar gives a dramatic and superbly written account of this fundamental scientific revolution.

A well told story…
Revisado: 02-15-24
A very interesting story was captured by a very good writer and narrated by a very good narrator! This was one of the best listening experiences I have had in awhile. I love to listen while walking on a rural road and I logged several enjoyable miles in the past week.

Historia
In lyric, accessible prose, Carlo Rovelli invites us to consider questions about the nature of time that continue to puzzle physicists and philosophers alike. For most listeners, this is unfamiliar terrain. We all experience time, but the more scientists learn about it, the more mysterious it appears. We think of it as uniform and universal, moving steadily from past to future, measured by clocks. Rovelli tears down these assumptions one by one, revealing a strange universe where, at the most fundamental level, time disappears.

Physics or Philosophy?

I have listened once, and I will listen again in a week or so. I cannot say I understand time but I appreciate it even more.
