Historia
Unaware of the wider Heresy and following the Warmaster's increasingly cryptic orders, Roboute Guilliman returns to Ultramar to muster his Legion for war against the orks massing in the Veridian system. Without warning, their supposed allies in the Word Bearers Legion launch a devastating invasion of Calth, scattering the Ultramarines fleet and slaughtering all who stand in their way. This confirms the worst scenario Guilliman can imagine - Lorgar means to settle their bitter rivalry once and for all.

Best Horus heresy yet.
Revisado: 01-05-19
I loved this book and won’t bore the review reader with specifics. Though it starts slowly there is a constant slide as the enemy of mankind sets nefarious plans in motion. By the middle of the book, Dan Abnett assails the reader with some of the thickest action and fighting ever written for black library. A story filled with heroic deeds and fantastic character portraits that faithfully depict the ultramarines lowest and highest moments in turn. A great listen.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Great listen

A long, and very enjoyable listen. While more court intrigue than a fantasy hack and slash novel. This is a very thoughtful book with great characters.

Historia
The Heresy came to Calth without warning. In just a few hours of betrayal and bloodshed, the proud warriors of the XIIIth Legion - Guilliman's own Ultramarines - were laid low by the treachery of their erstwhile brothers of the XVIIth. Now, as the planet is scoured by solar flares from the wounded Veridian star, the survivors must take the fight to the remaining Word Bearers and their foul allies, or face damnation in the gloomy arcology shelters beneath the planet's surface.

Narrator matters
Revisado: 12-11-17
I have listened to quite a few different narrators now and believe me it really matters. Some of this book is superbly done. Other times when a different narrator is reading it is just ok.

While I did not enjoy this title as much as the black legion series by this same author, I must applaud his ability to give great and unique character to each legion for which he writes.
