So Theophilus makes a plan to put his wife back in her place. One summer morning, he has her committed to an insane asylum.

Such an incredible woman!
Revisado: 02-17-25
What an incredible, emotional, frustrating, inspiring, life. Elizabeth’s passion and determination are palpable in this book….”look what crazy can do.” The author also narrates herself, and captures the essence of it all so well. What an intelligent, brave, driven, kind, tenacious woman. A “must read” book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this deep, layered story. The main characters were developed so well. I felt connected to them, fully invested in their success. I didn’t want the story to end. Thank you for taking me along on this journey.

Enjoyed, but didn’t love
Revisado: 12-30-24
I enjoyed this one, but didn’t love it. It finally started coming together 1/3 of the way in, but it felt like it took too long to get there. I was invested enough to want to finish it though.

Mesmerizing and Thrilling
Revisado: 11-22-24
I loved this book! It was captivating right from the start. The story and the narration were both superb. So many emotions felt throughout this story….It was so entertaining and heartfelt. I was fully part of their journey and am so sad to say goodbye. I’m not typically much of a fantasy reader, but this book may have changed that. I truly hope the author considers a sequel… I will gladly jump onboard with Cassie, Drummond and the rest to travel back to the Fox Library for more magic. A definite yes!

Enjoyable Adventure
Revisado: 11-16-24
I was looking for my next book choice and this title popped up. After reading the description, I took a chance on it and ended up enjoying every minute. This haphazard group of charming characters take a chance on each other and come out better for it. I needed a comforting book and this one is both warm and inviting, but full of adventure and intrigue. I’m looking forward to more from this author. Thank you - I loved truly love it. I miss the ride already!

Historia
When Kitty Karr Tate, a White icon of the silver screen, dies and bequeaths her multimillion-dollar estate to the St. John sisters, three young, wealthy Black women, it prompts questions. Lots of questions. A celebrity in her own right, Elise St. John would rather focus on sorting out Kitty’s affairs than deal with the press. But what she discovers in one of Kitty’s journals rocks her world harder than any other brewing scandal could—and between a cheating fiancé and the fallout from a controversial social media post, there are plenty.

Skipped parts
Revisado: 10-08-24
Kitty and Hazel’s portions were eye opening. The author truly captured all that these brave women had to go through, with unbearable decisions to make along the way. The present day portion could have been left out. It did not add to the story and was difficult to slog through.

New England life in late 1700’s
Revisado: 03-21-24
Really enjoyed this book. Martha Ballard was such an impressive person. I admired her strength, tenacity, stead fast love for her children and relationship with her husband. She was such an admirable character: woman, midwife, mother, spouse. The story slowed a bit for me at points and my attention waned, but overall I enjoyed the picture of New England in the late 1700’s including woman’s rights at the time, the legal system and life in general.

Masterpiece
Revisado: 03-10-24
Kristen Hannah never disappoints! Then you add Julie Whelan narrating the audiobook and its perfection. It’s surprising that this topic ie: women’s service in the Vietnam War has not been covered much in books and movies. So glad that this author decided to change that and give us this masterpiece. It was a tough area to focus on, but with all the authors research, she nails it. I could see this book being made into a movie. Well done.
