Just too slow and drawn out

I wanted to like this book based on all the good reviews but it’s just too slow. I find myself getting lost in all the talk. I have 4 hrs left to go but will try and return the book as I just can’t hang in there to find out who dunnit.

Terrible

I was eagerly anticipating this book having enjoyed all the previous Strike books but this book is horrible. It just drones on and on. Unfortunately I cannot agree with all the other reviewers that have given high ratings. Finally gave up and returned the book.

Sick and tired of Covid

Returning this book because I don’t want to be listening to a story in which we are told every time the main character is putting on and off her mask and basically forcing another character to get jabbed. We have enough of this crap in real life without including it in a story. I listen for pleasure not propaganda.

Wanted to like this but just not there

Over and over I have set this book aside only to give it another chance. I really can't say why this book isn't captivating which I know is of no help to others trying to decide whether to listen or not. I will say that there is a big flaw with one of the characters and once we realized that our interest totally vanished and we have given up on finishing the book.

Good story but poor narration

The story is fine but I do not enjoy female narrators trying to mimic male characters - very annoying as it so unrealistic. I am listening to the second book in the series and am having the same problem so if the same narrator is used for the next books in the series it may seriously influence whether or not I listen to anymore.

Too many "holes/discrepancies"

I really wanted to like this book having listened to all the previous Dewey books however there are too many "holes/discrepancies" in the story to make it enjoyable. I also felt that there were some scenarios that were just not realistic and a little too fantastic. This book does not compare to the previous Dewey books but not because it doesn't star Dewey.

The narrator did a good job and the story line in general was ok.

A lot of silly nonsense

Not my type of humor. I found this book to be a lot of silly nonsense. Given all the hype prior to its release I was hoping for something more entertaining. I'm still watching Saturday Night Live and have found Kate McKinnon to be quite funny but this book missing the mark for me.

Narration horrible, story not much better

There are quite a few reviews talking about the poor narration but I decided to try anyway as I really liked the books and previous narrator in the series prior to this book. The narration is so bad I keep wondering why I continue listening. The story line is also poor - just a lot of blah, blah, blah. I thought it would be nice to know what transpires in case I wanted to continue with the series but not sure I'll be able to get through this book.
