Historia
The Tech sisters don't date in high school. Not because they're not asked. Not because they're not interested. Not even because no one can pronounce their long, Thai last name - hence the shortened, awkward moniker. But simply because they're not allowed. Until now. In a move that other Asian American girls know all too well, six months after the older Tech twins got to college, their parents asked, Why aren't you engaged yet? The sisters retaliated, vowing that they wont marry for 10 (maybe 20!) years, not until they've had all the dating practice that they didn't get in high school.

Revisado: 09-14-23
Pintip Dunn has done it again!!! This coming of age high school romance had me hooked from the first moments that I met the sisters making egg rolls in their Thai family’s tradition. The author places Thai food and culture alongside steamy yet oh so innocent high school romance. Each turn of phrase in this novel is more delectable than the next. Vivid imagery and wonderful voice acting made this audio book completely consuming, perhaps addictive, from start to finish.

I adore the teachings of Abraham for how they feel in my life. Just focusing on a joyful experience of day to day life is enough for me. And then there’s so much more. I listen in the morning, at night before bed, at times in day when I need a shift of vibration. I just adore Esther and Jerry Hicks. Their partnership brought this beautiful unfolding to us! Grateful ❤️

Historia
This is an easily digestible argument about what rights we have, what rights Republicans are trying to take away, and how to stop them. Mystal explains how to protect the rights of women and people of color instead of cowering to the absolutism of gun owners and bigots. He explains the legal way to stop everything from police brutality to political gerrymandering, just by changing a few judges and justices. He strips out all of the fancy jargon conservatives like to hide behind and lays bare the truth of their project to keep America forever tethered to its slaveholding past.

Historia
The Founding Fathers tried to protect us from the threat they knew, the tyranny that overcame ancient democracy. Today, our political order faces new threats, not unlike the totalitarianism of the twentieth century. We are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism, or communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience.

Historia
In March 2019, the Viking Sky cruise ship was struck by a bomb cyclone in the North Atlantic. Rocked by 50-foot swells and 40-knot gales, the ship lost power and began to drift straight toward the notoriously dangerous Hustadvika coast in Norway. This is the suspenseful, harrowing, funny, touching story by one passenger who contemplated death aboard that ship.

Revisado: 07-09-21
Beautifully written. Descriptions are vivid imagery. Current and I feel connected due to common experience of pandemic, and an always skeptical feeling about cruises. The author nails it , linking to past, present and future. Really enjoyed. I hope to listen again and will definitely recommend. Thank you for this gem, with a rough side and that shiny cut side. It is all if it: beauty and glitz, shininess of cruises. And the underbelly. It’s there just on the other side. It’s all in this writing. It’s so human. I just love it.

Historia
In 1970, three-day-old Marra B. Gad was adopted by a white Jewish family in Chicago. For her parents, it was love at first sight - but they quickly realized the world wasn’t ready for a family like theirs. Marra’s biological mother was unwed, white, and Jewish, and her biological father was Black. While still a child, Marra came to realize that she was “a mixed-race, Jewish unicorn”. In Black spaces, she was not “Black enough” or told that it was okay to be Christian or Muslim but not Jewish.

Marra B. Gad boldly shares intimate aspects of growing up an adopted mixed race girl, in a white Jewish family. She offers insight into this experience that few have the pleasure of experiencing. I am grateful for Gad’s honest telling and the details of learning about one’s own capacity for love, in spite of it all. And I mean it ALL. Bravo. Aching and Inspirational. Love promoting, life and death affirming. Thank you. Todah Rabah. Happy Rosh Hashanah 2020❤️
