It’s “DARPA”, not D-A-R-P-A
Revisado: 11-19-19
The narration was ok except for the fact that she wouldn’t just pronounce it as “DARPA”. There was one section where I swear she spelled it out 20+ times in 10-15 minutes.

Historia
After simultaneous deadly terror attacks on San Diego and Washington, DC, hammer the nation, Nathan learns that the mass murders weren't random events - they targeted his family. And the threat is far from over. Part of a larger plot involving a sabotaged North Korean bioweapons facility and an ISIS training camp in northern Mexico, a third attack - bigger than 9/11 - is being hatched by cold-blooded killers.

Losing interest in this series
Revisado: 08-06-18
I have listened to all of the Nathan McBride books and they have been one of my favorites, but after this one I don't know any more. The story was decent and the narration was great, but I hate how they always linger on how much of a good person Nathan is, or talk over and over about how much he and Harvey would die for each other, and so on. Those things can all be mentioned but it seems like the author rambles on for 2-3 sentences at a time for what should have been a brief statement. Maybe it's just me but that annoys me every time and breaks up tense action sequences at times. It's almost like he needed to squeeze a few more words in to lengthen the book and went back and drug out any section where a tense life or death decision was being made. After this book, which seemed to have more of those ramblings that the previous ones, I'll be waiting for a bargain-bin sale before picking up any future books.

Historia
A resident of one of LA's toughest neighborhoods uses his blistering intellect to solve the crimes the LAPD ignores. East Long Beach. The LAPD is barely keeping up with the neighborhood's high crime rate. Murders go unsolved, lost children unrecovered. But someone from the neighborhood has taken it upon himself to help solve the cases the police can't or won't touch. They call him IQ. He's a loner and a high school dropout, his unassuming nature disguising a relentless determination and a fierce intelligence.

Hard to follow when listening on the car with breaks in between listens
Revisado: 02-02-18
This was a pretty good book but I listen to my books on the way to work and back. There were a lot of timeline jumps in the story and it wasn’t always clear when things were happening. Even after finishing the book I’m still not sure when in the timeline some major events happened.

That was horrible. Save your money
Revisado: 10-07-17
The main character was so blasted annoying, and made such stupid decisions and rationalizations for her actions, that they drove me “right bonkers” to borrow a phrase from the Brits. It was absolutely maddening.
The story also jumped around so much at times that I couldn’t keep up with what was going on when/where. The ending sucked because it stopped right on the middle of the climax and then jumps forward a year and everything is hunky-dory.
Just a ridiculous story and I only finished it because I thought it just had to get better. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.

Couldn't follow the narrator
Revisado: 04-25-17
Would you ever listen to anything by Adrian McKinty again?
Not by this narrator
What didn’t you like about Gerard Doyle’s performance?
I just don't seem to be able to follow a Scottish, Irish, or British-English narrator. There is something about the tone of their voice that gets lost in the hum of the road or the sound of the shower. I had to constantly rewind to try and figure out what he was saying and eventually I just gave up and deleted it.

Historia
Meet John Milton. He considers himself an artisan. A craftsman. His trade is murder. Milton is the man the government sends after you when everything else has failed. Ruthless. Brilliant. Anonymous. Lethal. You wouldn't pick him out of a crowd but you wouldn't want to be on his list. But now, after ten years, he's had enough - there's blood on his hands and he wants out. Trouble is, this job is not one you can just walk away from. He goes on the run, seeking atonement for his sins by helping the people he meets along the way.

A different narrator.
Would you ever listen to anything by Mark Dawson again?

What didn’t you like about David Thorpe’s performance?
I just couldn't get into his accent. I usually listen to my books in the car and in the shower and there was something about the tone of his voice that just got lost in the noise of the road and water. No matter how hard I tried I would keep losing what was going on and having to rewind. I gave up after about an hour and deleted it.

Much of the story was convoluted and hated the narration
Revisado: 07-29-16
Being a life-long Star Wars fans I had a lot of trouble putting up with one of the main senators puking his guts up when learning of a truth fans have know for years. It all just seemed like they were making too big of a fuss over the main story revelation.
Also, the narrator was fine as long as she wasn't trying to mimic a man or droid's voice. The first time she tried to do a C-3PO section I almost deleted the audiobook instantly. It was horrible and grated on my nerves. Fortunately 3PO doesn't have too many lines of dialogue in this book or I would never have finished it.
Overall I would say it is doubtful that I continue listening to future books in the Aftermath storyline. They are just trying too hard.

Too predictable
Revisado: 04-14-16
The performance was great as always but the storyline was just too predictable. Also Robie has a few too many "good guy" lines where he sounds like an Army recruiting poster. Especially when they get to talking about life after this mission. Still not a bad listen at all but just a little too heavy for my personal taste.
