Historia
A pioneering neuroscientist shares his story of growing up in one of Miami's toughest neighborhoods and how it led him to his groundbreaking work in drug addiction. As a youth, Carl Hart didn't realize the value of school; he studied just enough to stay on the basketball team. At the same time, he was immersed in street life. Today he is a cutting-edge neuroscientist - Columbia University's first tenured African American professor in the sciences.

A New Perspective
Revisado: 03-28-14
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes. It's enlightening.
What did you like best about this story?
Excellent information about drug research that casts a new light on old perceptions. Wish there would have been more info on this topic. It's the research that will end our barbaric views and outdated modes of enforcing drug laws. The cultural differences are enlightening, but most people don't get it or don't care, so this point of view will never change their minds.
What three words best describe J. D. Jackson’s performance?
OK, needs excitement.
Could you see High Price being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Maybe a documentary.
Any additional comments?
Unless you are a movie or stage star, get a professional to read your book. Makes all the difference in the world.
Gave it an overall score of 3, because of the narration.

Historia
Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl - who didn’t draw his weapon - blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: A liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

A Stand Out in the Crowd
Revisado: 03-27-14
What did you love best about The Keeper of Lost Causes?
With so many mystery novels out there, it gets difficult to wade through the muck and find the good books. This is a good book.
What does Erik Davies bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Excellent narration. Was able to bring out the subtle parts of the personality and present the whole person.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Under Pressure
Any additional comments?
Started reading, listening to the next book in the series. So far, good book, narration not as good, but not bad.

Excellent book. Her stories are consistently good. I have very sensitive ears and don't get the complaints of sucking and swallowing sounds. Every reader I've listened to makes a few sounds, but this one certainly doesn't make enough to matter. Excellent writer. Excellent reader.

Historia
Port Mortuary, the title of Patricia Cornwell's 18th Scarpetta novel, is literally a port for the dead. In this fast-paced story, a treacherous path from Scarpetta's past merges with the high-tech highway she now finds herself on. We travel back to the beginning of her professional career, when she accepted a scholarship from the air force to pay off her medical school debt. Now, more than 20 years and many career successes later, her secret military ties have drawn her to Dover Air Force Base, where she has been immersed in a training fellowship.

What???
Revisado: 02-01-11
Enough already...sounded like a BiPolar, paranoid freak show. Edgy character development can be good, but not this angry, paranoid, nauseating roller coaster ride. I had no idea what was going on, and half way through didn't care, so I stopped listening. Never done that before. Sounded like Scapetta was off her meds and off her rocker.

Historia
While on a sailing trip in the Baltic Sea, two young adventurers-turned-spies uncover a secret German plot to invade England. Widely recognized as the first modern spy thriller, this 1902 lone masterpiece by World War I Royal Navy officer Erskine Childers was written as a wake-up call to the British government to attend to its North Sea defenses. It accomplished that task and has been considered a classic of espionage literature ever since.

Only if you love sailing...
Revisado: 12-09-08
Sounded interesting, but a real snoozer if you do not love sailing with all your heart and soul. I don't. The plot was lost in the interminable descriptons of sailing and shifting sandbars. A tremendous disappointment.
