The character development is amazing. You truly feel and relate to the characters. It’s not afraid to talk about the darker parts of life while still being able to be funny. I’ll always keep coming back to this book.

I enjoyed the narrator a lot. I first read GWtW about 25 years ago and I enjoyed revisiting it. It sits differently now. The racial references are uncomfortable to hear, but it is a good window into past attitudes and mores. I like the juxtaposition with Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Scarlett and Rhett break my heart. I want a happy ending for them right up to the very last minute. So much wasted time.

The narrator is flawless and really added to the feel of the story. The story was fascinating, heartbreaking, and hopeful. A little window into Afghani culture.

Distracting Narrator

The story was interesting enough. I felt like it was well researched, and there were consequences and events that I hadn’t considered. But the narration was distracting and difficult to listen to whenever there was a child or female character. It was almost enough to make me stop listening. I have heard many women/children performed by men, and it has never been an issue. I didn’t love the narration overall, but the voice used for women/children was exceptionally grating. I will avoid this narrator in the future.

The pain of Hannah's childhood was hard to listen to, but her story is an important one to understand. Well told.

This was an enjoyable story and interesting enough that I wanted to put it on each evening at bedtime and whenever I was in the car. Jeff Cummings was adequate as a narrator, good pacing and clear diction. His character voices, particularly Henry, grated on me. But I do appreciate that each character had his own voice and they were consistent throughout.

I did not want to stop listening to this story. It's a good thing I had it on audio, I might not have been able to resist flipping to the end! The characters are so well developed and the story is intricately interwoven, every bit is interesting and entertaining.

Caroline Lee did a fabulous job narrating. The characters were always clear, the emotion perfectly conveyed.

Highly recommend this book, I can't wait to read more by Liane Moriarty.

Fitzgerald writes beautifully, he paints a vivid picture and I love to hear his descriptions. The main characters are thoroughly unlikeable, shallow, disappointing people. There is no redemption of their character. But I enjoyed the story in a "what a waste of life" sort of way.

It was narrated capably by William Dufris. I enjoyed it a lot.

This is supposed to have both commentary and no commentary options. But I can't find a way to listen to it without the commentary. That is why it is so long. The dramatization was done well, but I would prefer to hear it without the commentary.

Frustrating

The sound quality is great and so is the narration. But the recording is not broken into tracks. So, if you want to listen to a particular story it is very difficult to find. If you don't mind just listening straight through it isn't really a problem. But for my purposes it was very frustrating. I also noticed that even when you find the beginning of the story you are looking for, the title is not announced. You must recognize the names of the characters or the story. Separate tracks for each chapter would be very helpful.
