Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Politics mixed with a reset.
Revisado: 07-10-24
Lots of great ideas and characters to explore. I think this story has some definite political preaching. I could see how this might fly by people that are hearing things that have been repeated so many times its hard to recognize when it has proven wrong by deeper investigations. Nobody wants to believe what they "know" to be true is wrong.
This story has a lot of potential. I enjoyed it, though, the politics pulled me out a little.

Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Scalzi enters Virtue Signaling Storytelling
Revisado: 05-17-22
I pretty much buy anything John Scalzi releases. After this book, I will be scanning the reviews before buying. John doesn't preach Mask Mandates, Vaccines, or Gun Control the whole book but all off the cuff comments are very much a signal to anyone reading what his positions are regardless of the character who says it in the book.
I read Sci-Fi to escape real life politics.
This book would have been way better if I read it in May 2020 before we all really knew anything about Covid-19

Historia
In 2009, Mark R. Levin galvanized conservatives with his unforgettable manifesto Liberty and Tyranny, by providing a philosophical, historical, and practical framework for halting the liberal assault on Constitution-based values. That book was about standing at the precipice of progressivism’s threat to our freedom, and now, over a decade later, we’re fully over that precipice and paying the price. In American Marxism, Levin explains how the core elements of Marxist ideology are now pervasive in American society and culture.

This is a Cheerleading book for Republicans.
Revisado: 08-18-21
Do you want to debate ideas and find solutions to our modern day problems? America is home to a divided people who feel disenfranchised by the other side. If you are in the Center and dislike the Arguments of both the Left and The Right but would rather find a balance where we can all grow and live free, you will not find the answers or arguments in this book. Levin doubles down on doing things the way they have always been done which results in the Super Elites hijacking petty politicians to do their bidding while dividing the plebs and encouraging fighting amongst the Middle and Lower Classes of our society.
Chapter 6 is about propaganda and the media twisting facts to promote viewpoints instead of delivering actual news is on point. Levin fails to include Fox as one of the bad actors but what can you expect from someone cashing in on the flip side of the same coin. Levin and Fox are not unbiased news people. They practice the same disgusting yellow journalism that CNN does.
We should demand better and stop feeding the propaganda machine just because Fox says something you like.
Give them Bread and Circuses.

Historia
United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

This was a struggle. This book needs to be edited down a lot! This books drags along very slowly but listening to it at 1.35x helped make it tolerable.

Historia
Rainn Wilson’s memoir about growing up geeky and finally finding his place in comedy, faith, and life. For nine seasons Rainn Wilson played Dwight Schrute, everyone's favorite work nemesis and beet farmer. Viewers of The Office fell in love with the character and grew to love the actor who played him even more. Rainn founded a website and media company, SoulPancake, that eventually became a best-selling book of the same name. He also started a hilarious Twitter feed (sample tweet: “I'm not on Facebook” is the new “I don't even own a TV”).

Most books like this would run from the spiritual aspect of life. Rainn not only embraces it but weaves it into his life story without coming off preachy. That is incredibly difficult to pull off.
Bravo.

Connor might be the wrong man for the colony, but he's the right man to see that it survives what's coming.

Revisado: 10-03-18
Every move in this book is so obvious. I assumed I was getting into an Epic Sci Fi series but I was wrong. For what it is it's fine but there is no way this guy ever served in the military. His views on what what it takes to be a leader are very juvenile. I would say this book is for 13-18 year olds. Anyone with real life military experience will find this book tedeous.

Historia
When a small vial arrives in her mailbox from "Lewis Carroll", Ayelet Waldman is at a low point. Her mood storms have become intolerably severe; she has tried nearly every medication possible; her husband and children are suffering with her. So she opens the vial, places two drops on her tongue, and joins the ranks of an underground but increasingly vocal group of scientists and civilians successfully using therapeutic microdoses of LSD.

If you want to actually live while you are alive you might want to read this book.
Revisado: 07-19-17
This is a fantastic jumping off point to truly discovering yourself if you are willing to take the leap. Ayelet is very brave to share her experiences so honestly in a society that loves to hang on to conventional wisdom with a death grip even when faced with the likely possibility of being completely wrong. I want to experience life to the fullest. I have been on my own journey of awakening which has lead me to this book. I feel invigorated to dig deeper into self discovery.
Thanks Ayelet!

Historia
His memory is blank. He only knows that he was flushed out of the Mediterranean Sea, his body riddled with bullets. There are a few clues. A frame of microfilm surgically implanted beneath the flesh of his hip. Evidence that plastic surgery has altered his face. Strange things that he says in his delirium -- maybe code words. Initials: "J.B." And a number on the film negative that leads to a Swiss bank account, a fortune of four million dollars, and, at last, a name: Jason Bourne.

Rob Inglis is an AMAZING reader.
Revisado: 08-28-13
What does Rob Inglis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He has a wonderful rich voice and it is obvious he loves the book the Hobbit. He knows the characters (ALL of THEM) so well, he brings them to life. I plan on making my kids listen to this book. Maybe we will sit down as a family and listen to it as we turn the pages in front of the fire this winter.
Any additional comments?
I wish Rob Inglis would redo George R.R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice. I know that sounds rash but hear me out. Roy Dotrice is/was an amazing reader but he is getting old and his most recent performance of redoing Feast for Crows was awful. It appears he didn't take the time to listen to his past performances before reading that book because he messed it up! Voices are different, pronunciation of names are different, all and all a lack luster performance not at all what I was hoping for.
So, Rob Inglis, in this listeners opinion you can be the new Roy Dotrice. Please redo the Game of Thrones series for me.
I know this will never happen but it would be awesome if it did.
