Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children. But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet.

It was a great listen. One of the best this year. It might not be much for someone new to the Warhammer universe but to me, someone that spent hundreds of hours reading about it and playing warhanmer total war it was amazing.

Death is not waiting for us at the end of a long road. Death is always with us, in the marrow of every passing moment. She is the secret teacher hiding in plain sight, helping us to discover what matters most. Life and death are a package deal. They cannot be pulled apart, and we cannot truly live unless we are aware of death. The Five Invitations is an exhilarating meditation on the meaning of life and how maintaining an ever-present consciousness of death can bring us closer to our truest selves.

I'm so glad I got this audiobook and not the book
Revisado: 02-09-20
First, I think this book got into my top 5 favorites of all time. It was a fantastic journey to listen to this. I felt I got connected with Frank and with the stories he shares, with some of the emotions they had, with my emotions.
I highly recommend it.
Also if you want to live this experience the second time differently - I recommend you listen to this book on 1.5x-1.6x. Frank's voice gets filled with even more compassion, a familiar sad-calm-optimism,

Average at best
Revisado: 09-15-18
For sure not my favorite book on communication It gets you through a long list of practical things but most are boring, lacking real value. It seems a collage of topics investigated on the internet and "stiched" together.

Historia
Eastern Europe has long been thought of as the "Other Europe", a region rife with political upheaval, shifting national borders, an astonishing variety of ethnic diversity, and relative isolation from the centers of power in the West. It has also been, and continues to be, pivotal in the course of world events. A History of Eastern Europe offers a sweeping 1,000-year tour with a particular focus on the region's modern history.

Bedtime stories about Eastern Europe
Revisado: 08-12-16
I would not consider this a course about the history of Eastern Europe.
It is so brief, so lacking of content that it is more a brochure about the topic.
You can get more information about the history of Eastern Europe by 10-30 searches on Google.
I did not not like at all how this was structured and honestly this is the first course I listen from Great Courses at the end of which I learned nothing.

Historia
Why do "Great Books" continue to speak to us hundreds and even thousands of years after they were written? Can they deepen our self-knowledge and wisdom? Are our lives changed in any meaningful way by the experience of reading them?Tackle these questions and more in these 36 engaging lectures. Beginning with his definition of a Great Book as one that possesses a great theme of enduring importance, noble language that "elevates the soul and ennobles the mind," and a universality that enables it to "speak across the ages," Professor Fears examines a body of work that offers extraordinary wisdom to those willing to receive it.

Not bad, but for sure not fantastic, just ok
Revisado: 10-06-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I don't regret buying or listening to this audiobook - but on the overall this was not too interesting. I never got me to say - I need to continue to listen or else ..
I think the language was too informal. This was probably why I was not impressed - most of the lectures where short summaries of the books with bits of dialogues as remembered by professor Rufus.
It was nevertheless an interesting lecture series because it started my interest to some of the books.
One month later I can barely remember any of the lectures.
So - all in one - I was expecting more.

Fantastic performance
Revisado: 09-06-15
What made the experience of listening to Starcraft II: Heaven's Devils the most enjoyable?
Never listen to an audiobook so well directed. I had a feeling I am in an exclusive theater watching a play. Excellent
Have you listened to any of Neil Kaplan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
First time - but it was fantastic
Any additional comments?
Loved it
