Historia
Combining the expertise of a biblical scholar and a missionary practitioner, Misreading Scripture with Individualist Eyes is an essential guidebook to the cultural background of the Bible and how it should inform our reading. E. Randolph Richards and Richard James explore deep social structures of the ancient Mediterranean - kinship, patronage, and brokerage-along with their key social tools-honor, shame, and boundaries - that the biblical authors lived in and lie below the surface of each text.

Must Read: You might be an Individualist if…
Revisado: 02-05-22
This is a must read for individualist and collectivist believers. Our frames through which we view scripture and the world impact our interpretation of both. However, in Christian community we can learn from each other how God’s Spirit guides us to Truth and Life.

Maybe Rosenberg’s Best
Revisado: 09-09-18
I have read most of Rosenberg’s books. This ranks in the top three and maybe his best. The narrator is exceptional. Sometimes a good story is ruined by bad narration. This is a fantastic story read by a fantastic narrator.

Historia
Amazing Grace tells the story of the remarkable life of the British abolitionist William Wilberforce (1759-1833). This accessible biography chronicles Wilberforce's extraordinary role as a human rights activist, cultural reformer, and member of Parliament. At the center of this heroic life was a passionate 20-year fight to abolish the British slave trade, a battle Wilberforce won in 1807, as well as efforts to abolish slavery itself in the British colonies.

Historia
If the biblical plagues of Egypt truly happened—could they happen again—on a global scale? Two years after vanishing into the Sudanese desert, Professor Harold McCabe comes stumbling out of the sands, but he dies before he can tell his story. Then an autopsy uncovers a bizarre corruption: someone had begun to mummify the professor's body—while he was still alive. Subsequently, the medical team who had performed the man's autopsy has fallen ill with an unknown disease. Fearing the worst, a colleague of the professor reaches out to Painter Crowe, the director of Sigma Force. The call is urgent, for Professor McCabe had vanished into the desert while searching for proof of the ten plagues of Moses.

I Really Wanted to Get Passed the Narration
Revisado: 03-01-17
I love James Rollins books and have read or listened to most of them. Rollins always provides an interesting ride, and I appreciate the research that is evident in his novels. The Seventh Plague is a good example of that. The debate over whether or not the biblical plagues actually occurred and the Egyptian cultural/history are evidently well researched. The characters are also developed well. However, the narrator seemed to either not understand or not be interested in the story. In my 40+ audio books, I have listened to some extremely talented narrators. I wish I could say that this one is among them because this is a very good, fascinating book. However, life is too short to listen to boring narrators.

Historia
Since the days of conquistador Hernán Cortés, rumors have circulated about a lost city of immense wealth hidden somewhere in the Honduran interior, called the White City or the Lost City of the Monkey God. Indigenous tribes speak of ancestors who fled there to escape the Spanish invaders, and they warn that anyone who enters this sacred city will fall ill and die.

Intriguing Adventure
Revisado: 01-12-17
I have read/listened to many of Preston's (and Preston/Child) books. This non-fiction book is clearly my favorite. I know some of the reviewers complained about the medical aspects of the trip. However, I found these to add to the reality of such an adventure. This isn't a fiction book where everything is choreographed. Jungle maladies happen. The characters in the story are interesting, and I was intrigued with the different expertise and skills they had. Probably one of the best things about the story is that it shows there are still mysteries to solve, lost cities to find, and great adventures to keep life interesting.
