It is heavier than Jane Austen’s books,
Yet a good book
and nice to see another side of Mary, the neglected sister.

I love D E Stevenson read by Candida Gubbins. This book is beautiful, interesting, cleverly woven with magical threads. There is warmth and beauty in it contrasted by meanness of spirit and even cruelty.
The reader is amazing. I listen to it repeatedly to hear and admire the fascinating way she reads the book. Each character has a specific recognized voice which is carried effortlessly through the whole book without a miss. I listen and am amazed every time. It is a combined masterpiece of writer and reader. The city and mostly, the countryside and sea shore, are described in a way that the reader sees and feels the place , the weather and the atmosphere. I feel as if l visited the place, sat in the rooms of the old house, was welcomed to the old kitchen and walked in every trail among the little forest, the dwellings of the piglets and l am sure l went down to the seashore but prefer to walk in the wilderness of the rose garden. A magical book with deep feelings and lovable people, especially the Heroine, Alfrida Jane. I just hope that if she met me she could liked me too.

This is a book that i go back to and listen again and again.
The reading is amazing! It is like going to a wonderful 12 actors theatre show .

An amazing procuction

Listening to this dramatization, I felt as if I am sitting in a magnificent theatre watching the most beautiful rendering of Pride and Prejudice with amazing scenery. All actors are wonderful, Elizabeth is outstanding, enchanting and so lovable. Jane has the just right amount of softness and logic except her conversation with Miss Bingley in London where she says that she does not feel so good. That was absolutely unnecessary, and not correct. Jane is a very proud person. Everyone is great, the music is just right. I think Mr. Bennet is a tiny bit too clownish at times but maybe he deserves it. Thank you for having this.

The beautiful book, Persuasion.

Serene, sharp, cleverly humorous.
Delicate, woven like a tapestry. The characters are alive, distinct. The heroine is a surprising young woman, the hero is just what he should be. A masterpiece!

This is a fascinating book. I listen to it again and again. The story / history line and the narrator are wonderful.
Especially clever is the way the author gives us his views on modern art.
But every chapter and every word are sparkling gems.

An amazing lady, an amazing autobiography
