Historia
Lymstock is a town with more than its share of shameful secrets - a town where even a sudden outbreak of anonymous hate mail causes only a minor stir. But all that changes when one of the recipients, Mrs. Symmington, commits suicide. Her final note says "I can’t go on", but Miss Marple questions the coroner's verdict of suicide. Soon nobody is sure of anyone - as secrets stop being shameful and start becoming deadly.

Richard E Grant is a wonderful narrator
Revisado: 03-04-25
The narration by REG added so much to the
story. It makes such a difference to have an actor of his caliber reading.

There was nothing about this that wasn’t first class. Story, style and narration were all completely gripping from beginning to end.

Spoiled by the narration
Revisado: 11-24-24
The story isn’t one of Greene’s best but it was ruined by the narrator’s style. Delivered in a nasally sing-song, the dialogues sounded as though the narrator had never heard human beings speak before. Had to play at 2x speed to get through it asap.

Abridged version!
Revisado: 10-19-24
My fault for not noticing but this is an abridged version. I felt that it was just paced a little bit too fast and lost some of the tension and detail of Forsyth’s work.
The characterization of the British rôles grated a bit too. Sounded like caricatures.

The most autobiographical of John le Carré’s works, A Perfect Spy follows two narratives: the manhunt for the double agent Magnus Pym, and the makings of the man in question—told in his own words.

Meh…
Revisado: 09-27-24
I thought that the narration was substandard. So many mispronunciations and the rendering of German names was especially annoying. For example, “her” instead of “Herr” led to confusion.
The story was overly complicated. I know that the book is highly regarded but I’m afraid it was lost on me.

Good performance ; story keeps my attention
Revisado: 09-09-24
The narrator(Lalley) has done a great job with the Bernard Sampson series. This was the seventh and the whole series has kept me gripped. Only complaint is the characterization of Tante Lisl, which grates on me. Maybe that’s just me and it doesn’t detract from my enjoyment.

Historia
The most gorgeously theatrical of all Dickens's novels, Nicholas Nickleby follows the delightful adventures of a hearty young hero in 19th-century England. Nicholas, a gentleman's son fallen upon hard times, must set out to make his way in the world. His journey is accompanied by some of the most swaggering scoundrels and unforgettable eccentrics in Dickens's pantheon.

Dickens’ most sentimental work?
Revisado: 03-02-24
It’s a very familiar story but still a little difficult to endure the sentimentality. Nonetheless, Simon Vance’s narration was excellent and the tale could be enjoyed once again.

Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Great performance by Michael York; second rate novel
Revisado: 02-05-24
In spite of Michael York’s excellent narration I could not find this enjoyable. The ideas behind this dystopian new world are incisive and frightening but the storyline is weak and populated by two dimensional characters.
