Historia
When award-winning economist Emily Oster was a mom-to-be herself, she evaluated the data behind the accepted rules of pregnancy, and discovered that most are often misguided and some are just flat-out wrong. Debunking myths and explaining everything from the real effects of caffeine to the surprising dangers of gardening, Expecting Better is the book for every pregnant woman who wants to enjoy a healthy and relaxed pregnancy—and the occasional glass of wine.

The BEST book on pregnancy
Revisado: 12-06-23
Emily is fair well researched and gives you the information you need to know to make your own decisions. The best book I’ve read on pregnancy so far and would highly recommend.

Odd but somewhat helpful
Revisado: 11-16-23
This book is…weird. But offers some helpful criticism of the hospital system’s birthing practices. It’s given me more to read and think about. The birth stories at the beginning also gave me a greater understanding of what will happen at birth.
Reading sounds mechanical.

Historia
Gibbs has become a popular blogger and frequent speaker at education conferences. In this series of frank reflections on an unlikely career, Gibbs contemplates what it means to be a good teacher, how great books can change lives (and how one particular book, The Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius, changed his), and why effective education is primarily concerned with the acquisition of virtue....How to Be Unlucky presents a one-of-a-kind case for ancient ways of thinking about teaching in our contemporary world.

Great Guide for Boethius
Revisado: 09-22-23
The amount of illustrations I’ve been able to draw from Gibbs as a meditates on Boethius in my classes have been innumerable. He expressed his ideas in poignant stories, that are both helpful and powerful.
