Historia
Why are certain women able to stay thin and never, ever diet? What is different between these naturally thin women and those that can only struggle to thinness through obsessive diet-like behaviors? The book explains the significant body of science which finally reveals the differences between the brains of thin and overweight women. It details the alterations in the brain that occur from years of overeating and dieting - and how to reverse them.

Helpful practical advice for combatting overeating
Revisado: 06-28-21
I’m so glad I listened to this book! I really disagree with some reviews that said this is just another diet book. This book is not at all about dieting. This book helped me understand how I am obsessed with food, addicted to food like a drug addict is addicted to drugs, and how to entirely reframe the way I think about food and its role in my life. It has really helped me eat much leas and lose weight - not by eating certain foods, avoiding certain foods, measuring my food etc like on diets (which could just make you more food obsessed), but by learning to eat only when my body is physically hungry and to stop when I’m no longer hungry. It’s not what you eat, it’s why you eat. It’s been a game changer for me and I’ve spent decades losing and gaining weight.
Some of the science is hard to understand and some of it doesn’t resonate with me (like all the talk about the cycle of shame) but most of the book has practical and helpful advice. It has a lot of lists and charts so it may be easier to use as a reference guide if you have the hard copy but the audiobook is good- the narrator is very good and easy to listen to.

Good but a female narrator and only male verbs
Revisado: 06-01-19
I was disappointed that the speaker only gives the male conjugation of verbs, not female. So that’s not very helpful for female learners! It’s especially confusing to have a female voice but she’s saying all the sentences as if she were male so Im learning it wrong. They should have each sentence spoken by a male and then a female and conjugate the verbs correctly. Or they should have different chapters for different sexes. But it’s really not helpful to teach females all the verbs incorrectly. Also sometimes I wish she articulated more clearly and spoke slower. But they are good vocabulary words to learn.

Tremendously insightful and helpful
Revisado: 12-27-17
This book really helped me understand my teenage girl better and provides great specific advice about how to deal with various situations. The author is terrific- her tone, her judgment, she seems like a terrific psychologist and I feel like I got 8 hours of sessions with her!

Helpful practical suggestions for improving communication with teens
Revisado: 06-19-17
I really enjoyed listening to this book. It's just the right length, very well narrated and full of real life examples of problems that parents of teens encounter and how to deal with them with our teens in a manner that fosters a healthy relationship. I may want to listen to it over and over again as my kids progress through the teen years.

Historia
Ernest Hemingway said, “All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn". One hundred years after its author’s death, this classic remains remarkably modern and poignantly relevant. In this new edition, Elijah Wood reads Huck in a youthful voice that may be the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent. His performance captures the excitement and confusion of adolescence and adventure.

Elijah wood is fantastic
Revisado: 07-28-15
I somehow had never read this book growing up and needed to listen to something light after listening to an upsetting book. The story actually disappointed me at times - some parts were so outlandish I almost lost interest but most of it was very heartwarming and interesting and it left me with a huge smile. But even more impressive to me than the story and writing technique was Elijah woods performance as narrator - it is superb. It's almost hard to believe that he is reading all parts, he uses so many different types of voices and accents - i felt like I was in a broadway play. I had no idea he was so talented. I'm eager to listen to more audiotapes narrated by him.

Riveting
Revisado: 05-06-15
If you could sum up Animal Farm in three words, what would they be?
Riveting story, engaging and thought provoking
Who was your favorite character and why?
Squealer was one of the most interesting characters to me
What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He's an excellent narrator and truly acts out the entire story and brought it to life more than if I had read it from a book
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Its such a powerful story, I just found it very engaging - I was eager to listen to it. Its upsetting and thought provoking - it didn't make me laugh or cry but it certainly made me think a lot
Any additional comments?
I love that it was only a few hours. It is hard to find an audio book as good as this that is so short - in fact so far this is the only one I've found - which is perfect for someone like me who has very limited time in the car to listen to audiobooks
