Best Business Book in a Long Time

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 05-14-08

This is one of the best business books I have read in a long time. It is imminently practical and based on common sense. In a nutshell, the book discusses the importance of taking action but intelligent action) and accelerating failures. As an attorney, I have seen so many people spend all their focus on creating corporations, printing business cards, creating expensive web sites, hiring 'branding experts' and marketing consultants, all before they make their first sale. Most successful entrepreneurs take a more action oriented approach where they first get some business in the door and then worry about improving things. I highly recommend the book.

If you enjoy listening to the audio books in the Self Development section in Audible, you will love this spoof of the topic by Al Franken. I also recommend the movie "Stuart Saves His Family." I actually purchased the CD when it first came out over ten years ago. I lost my copy and found it was no longer in print. I am very happy that Audible brought it back. Very funny and definitely worth the money.

As an adult with ADD with three children who have inherited this trait, I found this to be the best book I have ever read on the subject. The author provides numerous resources and has a positive and unique way of viewing ADD. Practically all of the other books I have read on ADD spend 95% of the book defining the "problem" and 5% on so called solutions like "add structure to your life." This book gives practical advice which would benefit even those without ADD. Thank you for writing this excellent book Dr. Hallowell and Dr. Ratey.

While I think Easterbrook has some valid points, they are sandwhiched between so much personal bias, that the book is hard to stomach. The personal bias is so strong in points that you have to question the validity of the information presented as "facts." I would not waste my time and money on this one.

I have never written a review before (have been an audible subscriber for over a year), however, I had to take the time to recommend this book to others. It is a compilation of wonderful stories that will make you laugh, smile, cry, cheer, and just be glad your alive. It is not over done, preachy, or syrupy. I listened to it on a recent trip and it made me reassess all that is good in my life. I guarantee the stories will be remembered for years.
