Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

I have read every single Gamache book since their inception, but this? Horrible. The voice is all wrong… Definitely need a new reader. I couldn’t get past chapter two. SO disappointed!

Too shallow
Revisado: 09-04-24
The narrator was good. However, the characters need much more development, and there is something almost amateur about the writing. Def not a fan.

When a teenage girl is found dead in the woods, her body posed like an angel, Stockholm holds its breath. The kill bears a chilling resemblance to those of the Angel Maker, a serial killer caught two decades ago.... One who just died in prison. Detective Inspector Jamie Johansson is taking some much-needed time away from the London Met when the call comes in. Her father, one of Stockholm's most notorious detectives, caught the Angel Maker when she was just a girl, and Jamie has long since closed the door to that part of her life.

A waste of time
Revisado: 02-15-24
I had such high hopes for this book’s protagonist, story, etc. Instead, I was underwhelmed, even irritated. Character development was sorely lacking, the storyline, cumbersome, and I had to just stop listening at chapter 41. Don’t waste your credit or your time. Awful.

Good twisty police procedural
Revisado: 11-28-23
The story was calm and more cerebral than some other such books I’ve read. I would have enjoyed a more in-depth character development of our protagonist, but all in all, it was an enjoyable read. Def reading book #2 in this series.
