Witch World on audio!

Andre Norton's Witch World series is one of my favorites. I have enjoyed her books for over 40 years and was very happy to see the first three books of the Witch World series show up on audio. I'd be thrilled if more of her books came to Audible. (Note to Audible: Please release more of Andre's books. : ) I read a lot of her books, and it was wonderful to return to this world via audio.

The Witch World is a mix of fantasy and science fiction. It has magic and technology, travel between worlds, and good versus evil. Interesting Twist

I expected the Away Team results based on the title and being an original Star Trek fan, but I didn't expect where the book ended up-interesting twist. Not Quite a Prequel

I had read several of the books in the series before reading this one, and I like the series. Because I had read several of the books, I knew a lot about Elantra and didn't need much background. That said, this is a prequel to series; but it would have been confusing to read it first. It needed more background and was a bit incomplete. It should have mentioned who sent Kaylin in the first place and what happened to the good and evil human mages. I realize that the Barrani mage was out of reach, but the human mages were not. I'm glad I read this book after reading some of the others because there would have been too many questions instead of just a few. It also had some inconsistencies within the book and with the rest of the series. The story could use a rewrite to add background, fix the inconsistencies and tie up some loose ends. Perhaps making it a full length book instead of a short story would help?

After becoming an Audible member, I bought up the series because I liked it so much. In audio, the similar names are a problem. Kaylin and Caitlin sound too similar, and it's too easy to confuse them. The narrator did help with this problem because she had different voices for each, but sometimes it still got confusing. Great intro to Nocturne Falls!

This book was my introduction to Nocturne Falls and its author, Kristen Painter; and what a great intro! It has fantasy, cozy mystery and light romance-three of my favorite genres. It also has Santa Claus and Jack Frost! What more could I ask for? It's light, fun, cute and magical. Since I hadn't read anything about or even heard of Nocturne Falls before this book, it took me a bit to get my bearings-magical and fantastical people and a town that celebrates Halloween all year round to protect its secret.

It was ok, but the author didn't need to use the bad language. It seemed that she threw it in just to have it-it definitely didn't add anything to the story.

This was the first Heather Blake book I've tried. I thought it was ok, but it wasn't as good as other Cosy Mysteries I've listened to/read-Madelyn Alt and Lorna Barrett come to mind. I might check out the next book sometime, but it'll probably be a while. Maybe a different series? I'll think about it.

I wanted to like the story more, but...

I liked the narrator.

I wanted to like the story more, but I had some problems with it. For example, how can she say that she forgot about the attack??? How can her so called friend go right back to trying to set her up with another guy? Really? I felt like that friend wasn't a real friend. Either that, or she was just crazy (not a friend I'd want!). First LitRP for me

This was a good book. It was the first LitRPG for me. I'd never heard of the genre before this book, so it was a great introduction. The leveling up was a surprise and could get irritating when it went on for a while, but it was also interesting to find out how the characters compared to each other. I like fantasy (as well as sci fi and mystery), and this is another way to enjoy it. I will certainly check out the next book in the series and other authors.

Finding yourself tricked into what you thought was only a game, where magic is real; but you have to learn quickly, gain allies and level up to survive. It's a great concept. #LITRPG #MagicSystems #Monsters #Clever #Magical #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Narrator was irritating.

I liked the story, but the narrator was irritating. She might be ok with other books, but she kept exaggerating the pronunciation in this one. It got old quickly.
