I read these books out of order. To me, the second book wasn't that great, so I was a little reluctant to start this one (book one). Boy was I surprised!
I'm a huge Criminal Minds fan. I think it's one of my favorite shows ever, and this book had a lot of similar characters. There is more focus on the mystery than the romance, but I was ok with that. It was insta-love for the main characters, but I was ok with that too because of all of the drama happening around them. KA doesn't give many details about what happens to the victims, which I kinda wish she did because it would have given more shock and anger and fueled me with a sense of urgency to finish the book and get to the part where justice rains supreme. Also, the sex scenes were sorely lacking, but that surprisingly didn't bother me either. This story was more about the mystery than the sex, so it felt natural. Now, that doesn't mean I wanted more steam in the scenes, especially since the Hero says there first encounter in the bathroom was the "best sex of his life" so I would have liked to believe him.
All that said, I need more stories like this. I'm so, so happy KA branched out into FBI crime dramas outside of supernatural themes. I really hope there are more to come. 100 stars given for this book

First off, I just want to say that I love this author. Totally. But this book for me was just....odd.
I felt the Charlie's Angel thing started off cute, but then just tried too hard to be an exact replica of the show. There's even a "Charlie" who sends them weapons and does end up talking to them through a speaker.
Also, it seemed odd that a lot of the characters in the Rock Chick Series just happened to fall in love with Phoenix and move there. You get Charlene and her family, Tex (who, of course, ends up making coffee in the same situation, just in a slightly different setup) who also moves down with his wife and all their cats. instead of a bookstore, You get a restaurant /coffee house /bar (yes, it's all those things) that feels exactly the same . I don't know, everything was just too coincidental. The same people, the same setups, the same crazy girlfriends with the same personalities (Jesse even calls her girls "chicks")
This author is so incredibly talented, I just don't know why she had to recycle everything she had already done, including using a show/movie that's already been done twice before while bringing over the same characters she'd used before. Girl, I know you can create amazing things on page. Respectfully, this just felt a little lazy.
(or maybe like a Frankenstein monster thing created from bits pieces? I don't know...)
Another thing that was odd, there was a section of the book where Jesse completely goes off for a couple of minutes and gives her two cents about parenting and how it should be done. it comes out of nowhere and it felt very... preachy. kind of like when you're scrolling through Instagram and Mommy shaming starts happening from people who don't even have children. Jesse's speech just seemed weird. it completely took me out of the story and I was wondering where the heck that came from. The author possibly seemed to be venting?
Very odd!
So yes, overall this book just seemed weird. There's no other way to describe it. But if you're a fan of The Rock Chicks and want the same exact thing with some of the same exact people, then these are definitely for you. I just hope the stories are more cohesive and original moving forward.

I love these two narrators together! They are of course incredible separately, but together they're magic!
Now, the story....
I didn't like Maddy. She was cold and made teasing remarks at the wrong time. I found her completely unlikable. I tried, I really did, but she was just too stale of a character for me. She was also one of those kind of characters where she thought everything inside her head, then spoke out something different. Listening to Maddy was kind of like this:
Landon: "Do you like my shirt?"
Maddie *thinking* I really love that shirt on him. it defines his hard chest and shows off those muscled forearms. I want to tangle my fingers into the buttons and rip it off his body. I can already hear the buttons pinging off the walls.....
Landon: "Maddie? Did I say something wrong?"
Maddie: *continues to think* ....He's so thoughtful. I love how all his focus is on me. We just fit so well together. ..... *Maddie finally answers*: "That shirt is alright."
Poor Landon. Even when he's professing his undying love she makes a cold, teasing comment in return.

Ah, well. I wanted to love this book, and I did love the low level of angst (which is why I was excited for this) but the main character just didn't mesh with me.

Annabelle was annoying beyond words. I understand that a little petulance is needed in a DD/lg book, but this heroine drove me crazy. How can you go into someone's home, then yell at the staff, calling them "stupid" ? Her attitude towards Worthington had me scratching my head. He tries to console her at one point, and she shoves him away. If I was Sawyer's staff, I'd have problems with her. Her attitude was terrible.
Drama at the end was a big stretch.

Narration was awesome, which kept me listening.

The main characters acted like emotional teenagers. No communication and running off hormones. One straightforward conversation would have cleared everything up, so it was overly dramatic for no reason.
Narration was AWESOME! SebYo is everything. *sigh*

I loved this story! Not too angsty, yet not boring at all, which is impossible to find. I loved that Mac stood her ground on her profession, though we dont know if she continues to strip in the epilogue. Mo was AMAZING!! I loved him!
HEA by the end. My only complaint is, we weren't given the name of the baby. Haha. I was hoping it was from Mo's heritage.

Yes, I know this book was about a sex toy factory, but it was definitely a PG story. It lacked heat. It was cute, and the raccoon was adorable, but something was....missing.
Adorable. Funny. Entertaining. Lovable characters....Yes. Absolutely. I just wanted more. More heat. More chemistry. More...something.
LOVED the narration.
I definitely recommend.

I'm not one for angst. I usually avoid it at all costs. After 4 transplanted organs, my life is nothing but drama. This story, though....
It is amazing and so incredibly written that I can't complain, even though I had to pause the book for a little while towards the end.
Well done as always.
And the narrators were 100% fire. I love them both.
