Historia
Hustle culture. Burnout. Quiet quitting. Today we're either sacrificing ourselves on the altar of success or we're rejecting the idea of ambition entirely. But it doesn't have to be all or nothing. There is a way to create meaningful work as part of a balanced life, and it's called 'slow productivity'. Examining the stories and habits of ancient and modern scientists, philosophers, artists and scholars who worked in this way, author Cal Newport reveals just how transformative the slow productivity approach can be to producing a meaningful body of work.

Very helpful

Very helpful and immediately applicable.
I found the narration style to be a bit too flat. A more natural style, a bit like his podcast, would probably work better.

In 1942, Lawrence Pritchard Waterhouse - mathematical genius and young Captain in the US Navy - is assigned to detachment 2702. It is an outfit so secret that only a handful of people know it exists, and some of those people have names like Churchill and Roosevelt. The mission of Watrehouse and Detachment 2702 - commanded by Marine Raider Bobby Shaftoe - is to keep the Nazis ignorant of the fact that Allied Intelligence has cracked the enemy's fabled Enigma code. In the present, Waterhouse's crypto-hacker grandson, Randy, is attempting to create a "data haven" in Southeast Asia....

Great Experience
Revisado: 05-04-19
The story itself is thrilling and enjoyable. Characters are funny and memorable. The narration had great characterisation and accents. I began recommending the book to friends long before I had finished and shall continue to now it's over.

Historia
As the practice of mindfulness permeates mainstream western culture, more and more people are engaging in a traditional form of Buddhist meditation. However, many of these people have little interest in the religious aspects of Buddhism, and the practice occurs within secular contexts such as hospitals, schools, and the workplace. Is it possible to recover from the Buddhist teachings a vision of human flourishing that is secular rather than religious without compromising the integrity of the tradition?

Good, but repetition of old material
Revisado: 02-25-18
If you read the contents beforehand, you will of course be aware that this is a collection of older material. So, if you have read Batchelor's other books you will have heard half of the material here already. But it is all interesting nonetheless.

Best not to expect what you usually would with a Bond novel from this one, but it certainly is a fun look into another approach to Bond.

Historia
War and Peace is one of the greatest monuments in world literature. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, it examines the relationship between the individual and the relentless march of history. Here are the universal themes of love and hate, ambition and despair, youth and age, expressed with a swirling vitality which makes the book as accessible today as it was when it was first published in 1869.

Life Changing

The story is heightened by Tolstoy's philosophical interludes on history and determinism. Neville Jason's narration is wonderful.
