Historia
In 1975, five young employees of a sclerotic William Morris agency left to start their own strikingly innovative talent agency. In the years to come, Creative Artists Agency would vault from its origins in a tiny office on the last block of Beverly Hills to become the largest and most imperial, groundbreaking, and star-studded agency Hollywood has ever seen - a company whose tentacles now spread throughout the world of movies, music, television, technology, advertising, sports, and investment banking far more than previously imagined.

Historia
We humans tend to get in our own way time and time again - whether it comes to not speaking up for ourselves, going back to bad romantic partners, our umpteenth diet, or engaging in any of a range of bad habits we just can’t seem to shake. In Rewire, renowned psychotherapist Richard O’Connor, PhD, reveals why our bad habits die so hard. We have two brains - one a thoughtful, conscious, deliberative self, and the other an automatic self that does most of the work without our attention.

Historia
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the landscape of television began an unprecedented transformation. While the networks continued to chase the lowest common denominator, a wave of new shows, first on premium-cable channels like HBO and then basic-cable networks like FX and AMC, dramatically stretched television’s narrative inventiveness, emotional resonance, and artistic ambition. No longer necessarily concerned with creating always-likable characters, plots that wrapped up neatly every episode, or subjects that were deemed safe and appropriate, shows such as The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men, and more tackled issues of life and death, love and sexuality....

Wonderful story told with the proper voice
Revisado: 08-04-15
Where does Difficult Men rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
So loved this book. Brett Martin has capsulated a specific period within the television industry and he refers to it as the Third Golden Age of Television. With that as an umbrella, he successfully connects the dots throughout this exciting period. He takes us behind-the-scenes to learn about these DIFFICULT MEN - the show's creators, the executives (men and women) who oversaw the shows and the primary characters. Keith Szarabajka was the perfect choice to narrate this book. He too sounded like a difficult man.

This memoir as Steve refers to it, is so much more. Countless stories both personal and professional. Steve is a one of a kind humorist which is evident by the story of how his live persona came about. This man worked very, very hard to become who he is and his success is not an accident. I loved it.

Great info with a number of first hand anecdotes.
Revisado: 01-23-15
I guarantee you'll learn much more about pitching than you did prior to hitting the play button. Mr. Klaff lays out a unique formula to close deals. It's worked very, very well for him. The question....will it work for you? I plan to incorporate a number of his points into my upcoming pitches. That said some may not work don't work. Even so i will have put down my headphones much closer to having the confidence to close deals than before. I'm happy.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A different narrator could have made a difference. Didn't get past 5-minutes. Please excuse my harshness. It's not personal. Based on the title, there was a great deal I was looking forward to. So what you're reading is disappointment.

Narrator should find a better engineer/producer
Revisado: 05-05-12
Great info but a painful narrator. Forced importance. Should not have been read so quietly. Again, too forced. Also too much dry mouth and inhaling. Very, very distracting and annoying. When I listen I need to be in my car with all of the windows open and the AC on. I do this in order to drown out this narrator's dry moth and breathing. If I didn't I'd throw my iPhone through the window. I blame the engineer and producer for this mishap. It's a big one.
I actually went and bought the Kindle version so I can re-visit the material without listening to this annoying, annoying narrator. I don't care how close he is to the product.
The info is right on and I feel I never need to order another self-help book.

Historia
Gina Rudan lays out a life-changing plan to help listeners tap into practical, street-level, everyday genius that can unleash hidden potential and bring extraordinary success and satisfaction to work and life. The problem with the concept of genius is that it's a quality - like creativity - that has a magical, elusive connotation. Most people consider genius to be a gift, a "lightning bolt from the gods" that strikes people like Einstein or Mozart, but not the rest of us.

Historia
Most people think success comes from good luck or enormous talent, but many successful people achieve their accomplishments in a simpler way: through self-discipline. Brian Tracy knows this firsthand. He didn’t graduate from high school, and after working for a few years as a laborer, he realized he had limited skills and a limited future. But through the power of self-discipline, he changed his life.

Please use professional VO people in the future
Revisado: 06-05-11
There are some effective tips in this book however it's painful and I mean painful to listen to it. Brian Tracy chose to narrate it himself. So not a good idea. He's wonderful at synthesizing complex terms into tips. However does not have the voice or delivery for narration. A professional voice over talent wouldn't try to do what Tracy does. Tracy shouldn't do what a VO professional does.

Taking to us if we're 3 years old
Revisado: 04-22-11
I so agree with the other review's spotlighting the author's choice to read it himself. I can only imagine having to sit through one of his lectures. I'd would have ended up on a roof top with a rifle. Some good info but destroyed by having to listen to this man. Another pet peeve I have which to some may be small but his choices of names for his made up characters got me so nuts I had to actually sit down and write this. All of his subject and case name have got to be bogus. They're gentile names with no diversity. Names like Stan, Jan, John, Harriet, Bill, Mary and so on. Give me a break. If you're going to create sample patients and scenarios, give the people some color and far more challenging occupations. Oh yea, he did slip in a Carlos. Bottom line, people who read these books are looking for some answers. Answers I'm sure that book provides. Just talk to us like we've been around the country once or twice. I actually thought he'd setup a new chapter by saying, "This client came to me for a serious conflict;. His name was "Cookie Monster."
