Highly recommended. Appropriate for all listeners regardless of the level of knowledge about Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. I haven't learned as much from one book since I discovered Sarah Helms' Ravensbrück.

One of the best of 3000+ titles in my library

Buy this book if the description or the audio sample appeal to you. You will not be disappointed in how this story is told. It held my interest from the very first paragraph. The narration is really good too.
It's worth a credit too, if you missed the daily deal. On the east coast of the US you've got about an hour left to get the daily deal price of $3.99.

Good story, excellent narration, and an altogether enjoyable listen. I would have to agree with other reviewers: the story does slow down around the midpoint. I didn't mind, though, since the pace picks up again soon and with a vengeance.

I enjoyed this story well enough. At least it didn't seem to have come from a template like so much of today's contemporary fiction. And I didn't know how it would end, which is unusual.

I'd recommend this title to those who can like a story without liking the protagonists. I enjoy books with unlikable characters, but I know some people do not. There really are no good guys in this story.

One of my favorites of 2,000+ Audible titles

I've never been a fan of this genre, yet I recommend this book without reservation. There are no dull parts and the story is engaging right from the start. It's one of the best audiobooks I've listened to, out of 2000+ titles in my Audible library plus an unknown number from Scribd and Chirp.

I really enjoyed this title .The story held my interest from start to finish.
If you're tired of predictable fiction and want a story you will NOT have figured out within the first few chapters, give The Lying Club a shot.

What did you like best about this story?

The way I was forced to admit I had been enjoying my own smug judgments. I was unable to maintain that attitude for long, as characters came alive and their flaws no longer wholly defined them. Also, the book went in a direction I didn't see coming and it really stunned me, which made me realize I'd been underestimating the novel even as I'd been enjoying it tremendously.

Which character – as performed by Juliet Stevenson – was your favorite?

Guy. I practically fell in love with him just for his extemporaneous demonstration as he explains why, in the face of unexpected threat, the limbic system will trump the cerebral cortex. That short scene told so much about him, even as he had so much to deal with he was still loyal and protective.
Juliet Stevenson was terrific throughout the book, I can't think of a character she did not perform well. Now that I think about it, the narration was so good I should have mentioned it above- what I liked best. But it was such a good narration that I didn't think much about it, I was so caught up in the story.

BUY THIS NOVEL! It's costs less than $13, and thru Dec 17th it is $9.09. headline . It's worth a credit, or a higher cost, the low price is just one more reason to buy.

I Cannot Think Of Anyone Who Would. Graduates Of The University Of Virginia Will Be Especially Unhappy, As There Are Numerous Errors When The Characters Refer To The University.

What could Sarah Pekkanen have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The Story Was Far Too Slow, Nothing Happens That Doesn't Take So Long To Come About That It's Obvious When It Finally Does Occur.

How did the narrator detract from the book?
