Very entertaining

This story went by SO fast because it was so entertaining! The best way to describe it is "Gone Girl" but not as dark. It was actually pretty comical and witty until the end. Then I had a few moments of feeling the suspense and I could not stop listening!

I highly recommend. It's similar to books I have read in the past, but really creatively written and unique. I kept thinking to myself as I was listening, "how did the author think of all those twist and turns!?"

Gothic novel with a unique plot

I really liked this book. It really gave me "Rebecca" vibes, but in Mexico. I liked the integration of the Mexican culture, only wish there was a lot more of it. It seemed to take a backseat for most of the story even though it is titled "Mexican Gothic". I was expecting to hear more about this beautiful culture.

The build up is great. When the mystery is reveled, it was surprisingly not cheesy in my opinion. It's weird, if I would have known what the reason is for the mystery and horror before reading, I would not have purchased this book, thinking it is too cheesy. However, it flows nicely and this was one of my favorite books of 2022. I hope they make it into a movie one day! I would love to even direct it lol.

This was a great book to listen to while waiting for my next credit to be available. I enjoyed the writing and the performance. It is somewhat of a predictable plot with obvious themes. There are a few surprises, though.

Great story

I LOVED this book. The story, the performance and the ending. It really affected my emotions and I felt worried for the main character.

The ending surprised me. I was pretty certain it was going to end in a hanging, but it didn't. I was SHOCKED that this story, that was so dark, sad and thrilling would end happily. Overall, I loved it.

Good, but not amazing

I liked this book, but the story isn’t quite what I thought it would be based on the reviews. Kind of predictable and anticlimactic in my opinion.

Like many of the other reviews say, the secrets and the stories that unfold are dark and quite a few of them affected me emotionally for a day or two. So you know the writing is good. The ending did surprise me, but at the same time a lot of it was super predictable. If you have ample credits to use, give it a try. I would not recommend buying this book or using that one precious credit on it.

Good story, not Gillian Flynn’s best novel

I really liked this story. It’s well done and I love Gillian Flynn, but this is not their best novel. Kind of predictable and unoriginal. I recommend it, but don't expect to be blown away.

Okay book, pretty boring story

I kept waiting for the story to get interesting...it’s a longer book so I was patient, but it doesn’t. Just repeats the same stuff over and over: Cora is a rich American heiresses living in England with her new husband and experiencing a culture shock. That’s basically it! Not a bad story though if you like a little background noise as it is easy to follow and cute.

There’s a little bit of drama towards the end that makes it sort of interesting, but learning about her husband having an affair/his past relationships being the BIG obstacle to overcome?? Pretty boring and unoriginal if you ask me.

I loved the performance, the voices and the narration. Great story...not like anything I’ve read before. This is one of my favorite books of all times and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a book to read.
