I loved the way the writer made this book flow. It was as if the reader was speaking in memory.

The last in the Afrolit Now series, The Sins of The Fathers by Zukiswa Wanner is narrated by a man dealing with immense grief. When he’s unable to heal from the trauma of loss, Akani begins to question his and his father’s role as a parent and, in doing so, awakens to the patterns between them. In trying to avoid being like his father as a husband and as a parent, did he inadvertently become exactly the man he wished not to be? And what secrets lie untold? As he grieves, he wonders whether he was ill-advised to keep secrets that may unwittingly hurt his family.

Meet Omari, a gorgeous, hardworking 28-year-old man from the South Side of Chicago. No matter how hard he works at his job at UPS, it is never enough to take care of himself and his long-term girlfriend. After continuous pressure from his older cousin, Ching, Omari finally trades in busting his ass for working under Ching, hustling three major blocks on the West Side. All is good as Omari juggles work and the drug game - until Ching involves him in the murder of someone who ends up being the governor's nephew.

So good I had to listen twice
Revisado: 07-28-22
This book was so good, I’ve purchased every sequel so far. I had to come back and listen again (all of the different names/characters through me for a loop in the beginning/don’t let this discourage you if you are like me… I think I suffer from undiagnosed ADHD). The book(s) will keep you wanting more. The story line is amazing and it flows well into the next book. It even has me wanting to read for this author (if one of the characters end up in New Orleans or any of the surrounding cities. Great book, purchase if you are thinking in it, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Outstanding Flow and Dictation
Revisado: 07-09-22
I loved the story, the reader and the flow of words. I would recommend this book to the many orphans and abandoned individuals of this cruel world. I gave this review and rating because I hope it’ll catch the attention of anyone stringing the fence on purchasing the book, audio book or the movie. I can’t wait for the upcoming release of the movie. I purchase many audio books for my long road trips or long flights and this one by far is in my top 5. My 11 year old son (military brat) also loved many of the relatable points of the book. It enabled him to release some feelings he had when both his dad and I are deployed or training during the same time. Overall, this is a great book!!!!

Historia
In 1958 Georgia, the shade of a 13-year-old black girl's skin can make the difference in her fate. Tangy Mae is the smartest of her mother's 10 children, but she is also the darkest complected. The Quinns - all different skin shades, all with unknown fathers - live with their charismatic, beautiful, and tyrannical mother, Rozelle, in poverty on the fringes of a Georgia town where Jim Crow rules. Rozelle's children live in fear of her mood swings and her violence, but they are devoted to her. Rozelle pulls her children out of school when they are 12 years old so that they can help support her by going to work.
