The work of one of the greatest poets of the English language, read by the author, who happens to be also one of the great performers and teachers of poetry. I've listened to all three volumes multiple times. This is an experience rightly to be envied, one that has elevated my life and will mark it forever.

This text establishes and preaches the same cynical gospel as The Prince, but does so more elegantly. And Gillen's performance is sympathetic and compelling.

Gyllenhaal is equal to Fitzgerald's voluptuous prose; however the recording was pieced together from numerous takes, and the abrupt changes in timbre and ambience, sometimes in the middle of paragraphs, was distracting. That said, the perfect voice and training to read this work.

Curry is really into it, but makes it sound like a classic at the same time. Pleasurable and exciting.

Juliet Stevenson performs Middlemarch as if she had written it herself, for us, her younger siblings, alternately admonishing us with its deep grasp of human nature and social folly, and elevating us with its erudition and glorious language. George Elliot's sublime novel comes to us fully realized - gentle, wise, vivid, encouraging.
