Historia
Michael Schneider leads us on a spectacular journey along the numbers one through 10 to explore the mathematical principles made visible in flowers, shells, crystals, plants, and the human body, expressed in the symbolic language of folk sayings and fairy tales, myth and religion, art and architecture. This is a new view of mathematics, not the one we learned at school but a comprehensive guide to the patterns that recur through the universe and underlie human affairs.

Pretty neat
Revisado: 07-03-23
I’ve been trying to read this for about 15 years, but never quite got rolling with it- This audiobook finally made it happen, and it was neat as hekk. Really good brain food.

Historia
The Age of Surveillance Capitalism is neither a hand-wringing narrative of danger and decline nor a digital fairy tale. Rather, it offers a deeply reasoned and evocative examination of the contests over the next chapter of capitalism that will decide the meaning of information civilization in the 21st century. The stark issue at hand is whether we will be the masters of information and machines or its slaves.

Possibly the most important book of the early 21st century

Suck it, Bezos. Suck it, Zuckerberg. Suck it, Page. Finally, a handbook for the rebellion.
Seriously. For all the good you people can do, and this is how you play it?!

Watts’ bibliobiography
Revisado: 11-21-20
This book was a wonderful missive. For fans of Watts familiar with his talks, here are laid bare the experiences and influences he wove together time and again, granting credit where it’s due.

Historia
In Trauma and Memory, best-selling author Dr. Peter Levine (creator of the Somatic Experiencing approach) tackles one of the most difficult and controversial questions of PTSD/trauma therapy: Can we trust our memories? While some argue that traumatic memories are unreliable and not useful, others insist that we absolutely must rely on memory to make sense of past experience. Dr. Levine suggests that there are elements of truth in both camps.

Mildly technical
Revisado: 10-20-20
This book served to explain some of the mechanics of trauma work. It is not a ‘how to’ so much as a ‘why for’. It is an excellent resource for the clinician or the person seeking to better understand how the body responds to and stores trauma, as well as the subsequent ramifications for its persistence or healing.
