Historia
When he was just a fledgling birdwatcher, Jonathan C. Slaght had a chance encounter with one of the most mysterious birds on Earth. Bigger than any owl he knew, it looked like a small bear with decorative feathers. He snapped a quick photo and shared it with experts. Soon he was on a five-year journey, searching for this enormous, enigmatic creature in the lush, remote forests of Eastern Russia. That first sighting set his calling as a scientist.

A well-written and informative book!
Revisado: 03-03-21
Slaght is an excellent writer. His descriptions of his time in Primorye are beautiful and poetic. I am grateful he wrote this book to share his adventure learning of the Blackiston’s fish owl habitat. He is also one of the few authors who is a good narrator of his own work.

Historia
A strange plague called the "Gets" is decimating humanity on a global scale. It causes people to forget - small things at first, like where they left their keys... then the not-so-small things like how to drive, or the letters of the alphabet. Then their bodies forget how to function involuntarily - and there is no cure. But now, far below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, deep in the Marianas Trench, an heretofore unknown substance hailed as "ambrosia" has been discovered - a universal healer, from initial reports.

What is this book about?
Revisado: 03-03-20
I kept listening. Hoping for a plot but o listened to chapter after chapter of obscene and revolting irrelevant descriptions of horror for WHAT? What is this book about? Terrible. The worst book I’ve listened to since I listened to any book. I didn’t return it because I thought it might come together at the end. No. This is the author’s indulgence in the grossest unspeakable crap imaginable. Not a novel in the classic sense. Endless drivel. K

So many twists and turns! I learned some great terms used by card sharps and magicians and never lost interest.

Historia
When editor Susan Ryeland is given the manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has no reason to think it will be much different from any of his others. After working with the best-selling crime writer for years, she's intimately familiar with his detective, Atticus Pünd, who solves mysteries disturbing sleepy English villages. An homage to queens of classic British crime such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers, Alan's traditional formula has proved hugely successful.

What a great psychological thriller! Never would have guessed the surprise ending! And the telling of it was very unique also but I spoil by describing.

Narrator’s voice.
Revisado: 07-19-18
The only reason I didn’t give a higher rating for performance was because the narrator’s voice for the young Elizabeth Haberlin was really annoying. It got better though and I enjoyed the story.
