Story was witty but not my favorite though it had some pretty funny moments, especially at the end. Narrator was excellent. I think I am spoiled by Cotillion and wish all stories were as funny.

Listened to it twice. Second time even better. Funny story. Believable hero. I liked him. Heroine was great. Narrator was ideal for book.

Review for first book

Well written book. Started slow with heroine’s introspection but it was needed to show contrast in her married life introspection. Author made hero realistic. Miranda was a gem. Narrator did a great job.

Good story and narration. Has some witty and funny moments. Hero was realistic. My one quibble is that narrator made the 41 year old aunt sound like 71. The aunt just exited her 30s so she should still sound young. I think this is the only Joan Smith book in Audiobook, but her heros are almost all the same. Kind of like Betty Neels heros, which is probably why there’s only one Audiobook for that author, also lol

Dull story but nice hero and had it’s good moments

The story was kind of boring though Georgette managed to develop a really decent hero. His love was realistic and strong. His reactions in various situations was satisfying and realistic for an intelligent and confident man. The heroine was sweet just inexperienced and unsure so she stressed me out frequently with her reactions. Story had its good moments but I wouldn’t listen to this again.

Not clean or interesting

Sometimes even if a book is not clean but is still good I will keep reading. I tried with this book but was disappointed as it continued to be a foreplay of scenes for the newly married couple and I felt uncomfortable. It’s like a comedian who runs out of witty jokes and so he reverts to perverted jokes. Some of her books are clean and at the some time well written and hilarious. Perhaps author ran out of witty jokes when she wrote this book.

Can’t get into story. I loved a couple of Barbaras books (Letters and Lady in Green) but this one was not good for me. I kept giving it a chance but it didn’t keep.

Laugh out loud funny

Worth it for the laughs. Book is clean though there are suggestive moments but be careful with Barbara’s Worthy Wife as its not clean and not that good either. This book though is hilarious.

Hilarious

Excellent narration and story. This book is funny and clean. Not all of Barbaras books are clean as I learned the hard way (Worthy Wife), but this book was perfect in every way. Witty, well written and had a bit of romance. There were laugh out loud moments for me and wish more of her books were like this one and so far the only other that came close was Lady in Green.

Just ok for me

Maybe because I loved Cotillion story so much that listening to this story after was a let down. I couldn’t connect to main characters. I will try reading the book to see if there’s a difference in my opinion.
