The poetry of Mr Baldwin’s language is exquisite.. he is topical and relatable in the pre election discord and disturbances 75 years after this book was published!

Historia
When Memoirs was first published in 1975, it created quite a bit of turbulence in the media - though long self-identified as a gay man, Williams' candor about his love life, sexual encounters, and drug use was found shocking in and of itself, and such revelations by America's greatest living playwright were called "a raw display of private life" by the New York Times Book Review. As it turns out, Williams' look back at his life is not quite so scandalous as it once seemed.

I found the john laur biography of mr williams far mor informative and relational than this autobiography.. nevertheless, as a TW obsessed fanatic… it was worthwhile to listen for his voice as an outsider despite his standing as one of americas greatest ever literary and theatrical figures..

LA Punk
Revisado: 11-18-22
Well performed oral hx of la punk rock scene from the late 70s to early 80s by those who were there… i was really excited to read this, but i found it forgettable and superficial… maybe its just that lalaland punk rock doesnt hold a candle to the ny underground… sorry… i know i have regional preferences… but our scene birthed yours..and has ongoing effects w the wide range of punk rock aesthetics and the flood of bands, clubs, art, flim and theatre that came out of nyc..

Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.
