Nice to hear Davys voice!

Not much substance. No aha moments. Not terribly interesting. Doesn't have much to say about anything 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

Historia
Though Anderson Cooper has always considered himself close to his mother, his intensely busy career as a journalist for CNN and CBS affords him little time to spend with her. After she suffers a brief but serious illness at the age of ninety-one, they resolve to change their relationship by beginning a yearlong conversation unlike any they have ever had before. The result is a correspondence of surprising honesty and depth in which they discuss their lives, the things that matter to them, and what they still want to learn about each other.

I love Cooper and his mom!
Revisado: 01-24-23
They were so adorable together! I'm sure he feels her loss greatly! This book was so interesting; especially hearing about Gloria's gilded age lifestyle. When she talks about her son Carter and late husband it's heart wrenching. She is very honest and open. Anderson? Not so much but Gloria's revelations keep the story interesting!
I would have rather they talked more unrehearsed. It was scripted (of course) and it very much sounded rehearsed. This type of interaction is much better off the cuff... at least some of it.

Historia
How the monarchs of England and Scotland met their deaths has been a wonderful mixture of violence, infections, overindulgence and occasional regicide. In Mortal Monarchs, medical historian Dr Suzie Edge examines 1,000 years of royal deaths to uncover the plots, accusations, rivalries and ever-present threat of poison that the kings and queens of old faced.

So entertaining! (Which is a weird thing to say about death)
Revisado: 10-19-22
I really enjoyed this, so much so I finished it and immediately started it again.
Suzie's' medical knowledge, complements her historical knowledge perfectly, and visa versa. I don't think this book would have been half as entertaining as it was if she hadn't been a MD. However she uses layman phrasing in explaining medical episodes so it's very easy to follow and very difficult to put down. She also tones down seriously unpleasant episodes so as not to put off the reader, or listener.
Looking forward to her next book!

Historia
The day the second atomic bomb was dropped, Clabe and Leora Wilson’s postman brought a telegram to their acreage near Perry, Iowa. One son was already in the U.S. Navy before Pearl Harbor had been attacked. Four more sons worked with their father, tenant farmers near Minburn until, one by one, all five sons were serving their country in the military. Leora’s Letters is the compelling true account of a woman whose most tender hopes were disrupted by great losses. Yet she lived out four more decades with hope and resilience.

Truly a story of love and loss.....mostly love
Revisado: 03-08-21
This was so good! I really enjoyed Paul's reading! But this book was literally a series of "love letters" back and forth between the Wilson's. The love and caring between parents, children and siblings was absolutely precious.
I actually knew the outcome and was dreading the moment we learned the fate of the boys because I was listening at work and was afraid I'd cry... which I did.
A wonderful story to remind us our freedom wasn't, and never will be, free.
