Who are cash-strapped George and Jay to say no to a stranger’s offer of $10,000? The gig: fly to Havana and retrieve the old gent’s “family valuables,” hidden in Cuba since the Revolution. All expenses paid. At their disposal is a safe place to stay, a driver, a crudely drawn map, and a translator and guide. And what a guide. She’s a knockout named Carmen, lush and movie-star gorgeous. But their lady in Havana arrives with a warning: Trust no one. To say the least. Because nothing on this scavenger hunt is what it seems.

The storyline was one of the most interesting and unique of the Audible Originals I've listened to, and the narrator was outstanding. Loved it!

I love this series, and this book in particular was more profound in how the Ojibwe people live in harmony with and respect nature. Loved knowing Henry Malu's story. Do recommend.

Joey is my favorite character of the Orphan X series, and it's always a treat to see this character develop and grow, especially as I wait for the release of the next book in January.

Emma London never thought she had anything in common with her grandmother Genevieve London. The regal old woman came from wealthy and bluest-blood New England stock, but that didn't protect her from life's cruelest blows. Genevieve rose from the ashes of grief and built a fashion empire that was respected the world over, even when it meant neglecting her other son. When Emma's own mother died, her father abandoned her on his mother's doorstep. Genevieve took Emma in and reluctantly raised her - until Emma got pregnant her senior year of high school.

So enjoyable
Revisado: 11-13-23
I almost skipped this Audible because of a review that said it was sad and depressing. Not at all! Yes, just like life, there were sad events, but it's so very well-written! Characters were also very well developed. Highly recommend.

At first, I thought I was listening to a religious Audible (which I would never listen to by choice), but I realized that it was about some 'religious characters' delivering a story about friendship, community, depression, mental illness, and specially, hope. It was beautifully performed and delivered. A full performing ensemble can be tricky since it has the tendency to overact and sound cheesy, but this was extremely well done. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I really enjoyed this story, Do recommend.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Thought Provoking
Revisado: 08-07-23
Very technical, but getting the gyst of the complexity of the science is enough to thoroughly enjoy the book. Many of the ideas and questions posed by the author make you think a lot about our humanity and the accumulated impact in which our behavior continues harming our planet. Still, it's an optimistic proposition to a very difficult problem. Character development, excellent. Overall, it was a terrific story.

When a worker goes missing from a North Sea gas platform, there seem to be just two possible explanations - it was a tragic accident or a suicide. It does not take Smith and his detectives long, however, to discover that James Bell led a double life back onshore in Kings Lake, a life complicated enough to make him at least one dangerous enemy. Before the case can be unraveled, Smith must get a new team working together.

Coming of age story
Revisado: 04-18-23
It kept reminding me of Mark Twain, which the author seems to admire. The character development was well done, and I enjoyed the history lessons of life during the depression years. It's a beautiful story with kinda of a happy ending, and of course, Scott Brick elevates the narration.
