Historia
Alice Bassi is (a little) over 30, single (not by choice), and she can’t help but feel that she is failing at this whole adulthood thing. She’s stuck in a dead-end job, just found out her ex-boyfriend is engaged to his pregnant girlfriend, and Richard Gere hasn’t shown up with flowers and a limo to save her from it all. On one particularly disastrous morning - when Alice would much rather have stayed home, curled up with her favorite rom-coms - she meets Davide Nardi

Disappointed with the heroine
Revisado: 05-31-22
Could not finish, I found the "heroine" foolish, making stupid choices. Too immature. I don't understand the good reviews.

Much too sweet, unreal, & repeats 4 word count
Revisado: 06-10-20
I am surprised with the many good ratings. This was so ultra sweet. I listened several different times to try to get through, I finally had to give up. word count seemed the goal. The couples says "I love you" every page (both of them) or so in one story. How many times did it say "said with a smile, said with a laugh," etc. then repeat. If you like syrup on everything, then this may be the book for you. I could not finish.

Wimpy heroine that accepts abuse
Revisado: 02-20-19
How did this book get such good ratings! Growing up on the same property, not really friends. He is often mean with his actions and comments, tormenting her. Yet, she insists she is in love with him, she allows him to take advantage; no self esteem.
Then the are adults and return to where they grew up. He is angry and mean, she allows this, with some mild attempts to "fight back".
SPOILER ALERT: Even though his is rude and aggressive, she is unable to deny sexual actions, at least to significant degree. She melts because he is so "hot". Eventually, she does leave, in the process, he rapes her. Eventually, they meet up, discuss. He is aggressive and demanding, suddenly, for the last part of the book he is caring and considerate. The self talk on her part was middle school. As I read it, I thought maybe a man had written this book, to make the woman so weak.
I would have wanted to know more about the "relationship" before buying, thus, will be returning it.
Also, poor research on the medical portion (a small segment of the book).

If you can stand this amount of vulgar language!!!
Revisado: 01-03-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I have read and enjoyed some other KA books (with the lesser amt of profanity); and this one has a decent story line...... BUT the amount of vulgar language, just for the sake of swearing, is way over done in the 1st 2/3 of this book. Do you really need to hear f**k 4-5 times in a sentence, sentence after sentence. The company provided review should have a disclaimer. This book is 21 hours in length, it would probably only be 15 hours or less is no profanity (and I can take a book with profanity. Ex: the guy said "I said shut the F**k up, I said shut the F**k up" so I shut the F**k up and then I freaked the F**k out. (this is from the later, less profane part of the book.
Also, I felt some of the writing was more teen minded, when not profane: That's why I could look the way I looked after what had just given me that look. And: I couldn't run and get shot dead. If this guy made me dead......
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The story line was acceptable, if you could wade through the language and un-educated type of sentence structures.
Have you listened to any of Erin Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I found she did a fine job of reading.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
the extreme amount of profanity, even when the heroine was speaking to her young child. She had no filters.
Any additional comments?
I will be very cautious when looking to purchase any other KA books, to see if anyone mentions the amount of profanity. Then consider if worth the risk.

Faith is sweet and feminine, everything Gray wants and desires in a woman, but he suspects she's playing games. No way would she allow a man to call the shots in their relationship. Or would she? Faith sees in Gray the strong, dominant man she needs, but he seems determined to keep her at a distance.

Should be listed Erotica, my 1st/last Maya book
Revisado: 01-26-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, unless they want erotica and do not feel a need to connect to the character(s).
What could Maya Banks have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
More character developement, more character interaction that was not sex. I do not mind some sex, this goes way beyond the amount in a Nora Robert book, chapter afteer chapter at times. And reader should be well warned, much alternative sex, sex house, and 3 some. Less romance, much more erotica.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Definately not, would seem voyerism.
Any additional comments?
If you want sex with less emotional connection this book will meet your desires.

People really run toward gun shots!
Revisado: 03-14-12
Would you try another book from Catherine Coulter and/or Renee Raudman and Paul Costanzo ?
Have read other CC books, and was satisfied with those. Not this one.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Non-standard villian. All the
Any additional comments?
Story line O.K., not CC's best. I had no problem with either reader, acceptable. But everytime there is a gun fight, she has multiple people, including young kids running toward the shooting, or just standing in the open watching, 3 or 4 times in the story (really?)! Like every person would be that stupid. Made me want to stop listening, made story much less believeable. Some interesting twists but generally would not recommend unless you would run toward those gun shots.
