Good Theory, Long Book
Revisado: 07-06-23
I enjoyed the theory and what it teaches. As with most theories, it contained dozens of case studies and examples that helped solidify the reader’s understanding of it. However, I felt it could have been simplified a bit more. I got the concepts in the first 3-4 chapters and didn’t take as many notes or gain as much insight after that. Nevertheless, still a valuable read.

Historia
There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with listeners, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

Amazing stories and insights
Revisado: 05-15-23
I could listen to Michelle talk for days. Beyond her comforting voice, I love how she explains things in what seems to be a honest yet instructive and entertaining way. What an incredible woman. Regardless of political views, I think everyone has something to gain from listening.

Historia
Are your thoughts holding you captive? I’ll never be good enough. Other people have better lives than I do. God couldn’t really love me. Jennie Allen knows what it’s like to swirl in a spiral of destructive thoughts, but she also knows we don’t have to stay stuck in toxic thinking patterns. As she discovered in her own life, God built a way for us to escape that downward spiral. Freedom comes when we refuse to be victims to our thoughts and realize we have already been equipped with power from God to fight and win the war for our minds.

Great but not GREAT
Revisado: 07-15-21
Reminded me too much of Rachel Hollis talking about her own wins. I did like the stories and topic but the second half lost me. Still overall great topic and obviously worth finishing!

Same Lessons, New Teachings
Revisado: 01-25-21
This book touched on topics I’ve learned about my whole life, but the teachings, stories, and psychologically based principles have helped me to digest them in new and tangible ways. I’ve never left more book marks. Thank you.

Historia
Few subjects are as compelling-or as endlessly variable-as love and marriage. The Bible is filled with references to husbands and wives, from the story of Adam and Eve to advice in the New Testament, each open to interpretation. In The Meaning of Marriage, Timothy Keller, pastor of New York's Redeemer Presbyterian Church and bestselling author of The Reason for God, uses the scriptures as his guide to show readers what God's call to marriage is, and why this is such a powerful call.

This book has a wonderful combination of story telling, principles, Bible doctrine, and powerful one liners. Couldn’t stop listening.
