A good man who loves his family and his city, Commissario Guido Brunetti is relentless in his pursuit of truth and some measure of justice. I read Donna Leon for the characters. (I want to be friends with Paola) The backstory on Davido was touching. And, I read for her plots. This one may be at the top of the list - 20 hours after completing it I'm still getting flashes of understanding. Leon is a craftmaster.

Here's a man who is respectful working with a younger woman, in every way.
He respects her skill and advice, he asks her direction and opinion, he teaches her skills for success. I like this man.

Historia
Russ Harris offers a surprising solution to low self-confidence, shyness, and insecurity: Rather than trying to "get over" our fears, he says, the secret is to form a new and wiser relationship with them. Paradoxically, it's only when we stop struggling against our fearfulness that we begin to find lasting freedom from it.

Historia
Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - what percentage of the world's population live in poverty; why the world's population is increasing; how many girls finish school - we systematically get the answers wrong. In Factfulness, professor of international health and global TED phenomenon Hans Rosling, together with his two longtime collaborators, Anna and Ola, offers a radical new explanation of why this happens.

Mostly "go to our website" and "we'll tell you about that in a future chapter.
Take out the redundancies ("very, very, very") and the content fits in a blog post.
Early in they say "we hope you'll get at least one thing, and if you don't, let us know that, too."
I value confidence from an author.
I expect value.

Historia
In his long career, eminent psychotherapist and author Irvin Yalom has pressed his patients and readers to grapple with life's two greatest challenges: that we all must die, and that each of us is responsible for leading a life worth living. In Creatures of a Day, he and his patients confront the difficulty of these challenges. Although these people have come to Yalom seeking relief, recognition, or meaning, they discover that such things are rarely found in the places where we think to look.

Through her years counseling others and her own experiences navigating personal loss, Morin realized it is often the habits we cannot break that are holding us back from true success and happiness.
