This is not a Cthulhu Armageddon story, this is a detective story
Revisado: 03-20-24
Has a huge C.T. Phipps fan I am quite disappointed with this story. I'm not sure what's up with him recently but the last couple stories he's written have not been up to his typical quality. It's like he's forgotten key details of his own stories and there isn't a lot of character consistency. I get that everything in the story should be slightly shifted because of the circumstances of the story but it just feels very off-putting.

What would the world look like if everybody had everything they wanted or needed? Trekonomics, the premier book in financial journalist Felix Salmon's imprint PiperText, approaches scarcity economics by coming at it backward - through thinking about a universe where scarcity does not exist. Delving deep into the details and intricacies of 24th-century society, Trekonomics explores post-scarcity and whether we, as humans, are equipped for it.

As a huge C.T. Phipps fan...
Revisado: 04-16-23
...I felt like this book was a giant let down. There's so much he could have done with this book but I feel like Cindy was the worst choice for characters he could have picked to do a spin-off. Every other main character is significantly more interesting and enjoyable than Cindy who is the most one-dimensional, shallowest, and irritating person in the entire series. It could have been a story about the kids or even Gary's sister would have been a significantly better choice. Cindy is the least likable character and following the Misadventures of somebody so unlikable was distinctly unfun. Her "best" quality is being "hot" and that is a visual thing and this is a literary story so the only thing that makes her interesting only exists in the reader's imagination. So we read through the prose and find that she isn't even remotely capable carrying the story. Now this isn't me saying I've given up on C. T. Phipps or even claiming that he's sold out or any stupid stuff like that, this is just me saying this single book in the series is a huge disappointment.

I love the series but...
Revisado: 09-13-21
*sigh*
I feel like Larry Correia really dropped the ball on this one. The intro to the story felt very ham-fisted and forced and not at all like the smooth intros his other stories have. Once the story got going it improved but definitely felt like it was off. The monster hunter series has had some serious ups and downs and I do feel like this was one of the downs. The stories that don't directly follow Owen always seem to fall a little flat except for Nemesis. this was the first Owen story that had kind of a lackluster feel not to mention Oliver Wyman didn't do as well narrating this book as he did with the others either

When Redwall was published in 1987 it catapulted author Brian Jacques to international stardom. And small wonder! This enthralling tale is jam-packed with the things we long for in a great adventure: danger, laughter, hairbreadth escapes, tragedy, mystery, a touch of wonder, a truly despicable villain, and a hero we can take to heart.

This is almost unlistenable...
Revisado: 06-08-21
The narrator worried more about dramatization than making the actual text listenable and understandable. I can't even get through the first chapter because I can't understand most of what they're saying. This is very frustrating because I've heard nothing but great things about this book and I believe this is the only audible version that is available. I have gone too blind to be able to physically read the book myself so I have no other options but this terrible reading.

Pleasantly surprised.
Revisado: 01-10-21
I was really worried that this wouldn't end up being a very good book because sequels this far apart (10 years) typically lack the same soul. For the first fourth of the book I was concerned I may have been right until I realized what the book was actually about and where it was going. Then I was surprised but in a pleasant way. It is certainly different than the first book and it is a different genre of story all together. I would definitely say that I am pleased with this book and very glad that I read it.

I do not recommend this audiobook.
Revisado: 01-21-18
The narrator does not, even remotely, come to natural intonation and or what could be considered plausible conversational exchanges. I've heard this audio book from a different narrator and it is a fun little adventure. But listening to this narrator it difficult and unpleasant. It's like listening to someone who is only vague proficient in the language who puts all the stresses in the wrong places.

I felt like this was the weakest book in the series and that the author forgot a little bit who the characters were between books because the characters didn't feel consistent.

Could have been good but fell short on many levels
Revisado: 08-24-16
The narrator stops every 30 seconds or so and has a very William Shatner feel to him but not in a good way. It’s very distracting and this can make it annoying to listen to. The material is focused into a more archeological than historical presentation. This makes his ramblings about dig sites and his meandering diatribes eat up valuable time that could be better spent. I do not recommend this course.
