Not enough mystery slow, too much romance for me
Revisado: 05-19-24
Characters were not believable for me. Main character too enamored and dependent on the neighbors decisions to be believable for me at the start of the novel. If you had not seen someone for years why would you care what they do? The passed time makes them a stranger. Being upset to me is not realistic even for a nieve character.

Historia
The Nightingale House is a new beginning for widower Daniel Price and his young daughter, Caitlyn. After months of grief, this will be the place where they start their life as a family of two. But something is wrong - Daniel can’t settle. There’s an odd, cold feeling in the master bedroom, and a mysterious dripping noise that seems to move from room to room. Whispers of I can’t sleep echo through the corridors, long into the night.

Good ghost story
Revisado: 12-30-21
I liked this story. It was the first I read from this author. The plot was well developed. Character dialogue was believable. Narration was okay about a 7/10. Narrator did good daughter and female neighbor voices which made listening to this book easier to follow. Narrator is not Scott Brick who can make a slow burn book interesting enough to finish by breathing new life into a book. The narrator for this one is good enough. The book has lots of twists and no plot holes that are distracting in some books. In the end the story pieces all came together in this book. Also the main characters and daughter are endearing. This makes the reader care about what happens to the characters.

Desperate to coax her mother back to health, Constance takes her to a séance; perhaps she will find comfort from beyond the grave. But the meeting has tragic consequences. Slow moving, not scary
Revisado: 11-07-21
If you’re looking for a Gothic novel that will catch you from the star this is not it. The narrator I found very monotonous and hard to listen to. And the storyline I felt dragged. Too many embellishments not enough useful details that were needed to move the story forward

I have never read anything by Linwood Barclays. All I can say is wow! This book was like a ride in a high speed race car. The narrator is excellent. The plot enthralling. I really enjoyed the ride. I probably will read all of this authors other books. I loved it!

Revisado: 05-23-21
This book reminds me of the Haunting of Hill House. The book is well written each piece there for a reason. It has a slow build up at times but all in all an excellent listen. I liked the narration and sound effects that added to the audio book’s overall ambience and horror. This book has a snip of Alfred Hitchcock and blends into a surprise ending that will have you saying “wow” to yourself when it is done.

Historia
For years, the abandoned MacKenzie mansion remained hidden in rural Wisconsin. Rumors and stories of apparitions, odd noises, accidents, and strange deaths in or near the property were enough to convince the townsfolk it was haunted, and they stayed away. Lucas MacKenzie and his brother, Nate, know nothing of this when they inherit the property and decide to bring their families to Wisconsin for a major renovation project with HGTV stardom in mind. As they tear out old fixtures and open shuttered windows, the house begins to reveal secrets of a terrible past.

Slow burn
Revisado: 03-13-21
This one was a bit too slow for me to get into the story five chapters and there’s has still not been any interesting events that have occurred in the storyline. To get me interested I would recommend for this author to put something very interesting that happens in the first two chapters and go from there. For the next novel that’s definitely recommended. I stopped reading at this point because the narrator also was poor on this Book.
