Historia
After a number of years of being chronically ill with Lyme disease, Jenny Rush had a momentary realization that she was overlooking a lesson that was resulting in continued ill health. As she went into her last year of dealing with chronic illness at a physical level, Jenny shifted her primary focus from the illness itself to addressing the multitude of experiences that the illness was provoking.

nicely concise

I suffered with crohns disease for the past 20 years. I understand how a disease can really defeat your outlook. I remember how I couldn't have a good day or a bad day, I couldn't even get my day started.
it's hard to imagine life without it.
but a debilitating disease can put everything else into perspective.

Historia
Dr. Robert Glover has dubbed the "Nice Guy Syndrome" trying too hard to please others while neglecting one's own needs, thus causing unhappiness and resentfulness. It's no wonder that unfulfilled Nice Guys lash out in frustration at their loved ones, claims Dr. Glover.

nice guy = overcompensation

so good so far! at about the 5th chapter: this is therapy as an audiobook. no bs, no placating, no patronizing. kind of upsetting being called out: examples described in the book, from behavior that that i see in myself, makes me aware that my nice guy behavior isn't more pious than others' behavior that i condemn. being the nice guy is a defense mechanism / preemptive approach to avoid conflict and essentially abandonment.
