What an enjoyable read!

I really enjoyed this book. The narrators were fantastic. Reading it for a book club and I think we’ll have plenty to talk about!

I usually skip Nora Roberts titles that are on sale because they’re usually older books. But I checked this one and it had a 2015 release date so I bought it. The audio release date was 2015, but it was originally published in 1981. The story is old fashioned and kind of gross. The male lead is brutish, the female lead modeled heavily after Kate from Taming of the Shrew. The relationship has very unbalanced power and the female lead is painfully naive. Overall this book is just pretty bad. The narrator could have been worse.

I can’t finish it. I tried, but I just don’t like the main male character. He’s coercive, entitled, and kind of a stalker. I was not rooting for the couple. Definitely not up to Sarina Bowen’s usual standards.

Couldn’t make it past the second book

True first book was tolerable. The story was a little convenient but fine. I couldn’t make it through the second book. The story was just ridiculous. A little boy goes missing and no one seems to care?! The main character is a teacher and has to introduce herself to her student’s mother even though it’s after Christmas and he’s been in her class for months?! The paranormal aspects are the easiest parts to believe. Also, the rules of magic are very poorly defined and seem to change.

This book was hard to get through. It could have been half the length. Predictable and not up to Kylie Scott’s typical standards. The sex scenes are good and the narration was on point.

I can't believe this audiobook was published

I know it's probably really hard to find a narrator who can voice both men and women and numerous accents competently... but come on. This was terrible. I had to turn it down at stop signs not because of adult content, but because the accents were so terrible. Even the main character's voice wasn't great. It was sleepy and added to the difficulty I had with liking the main character. The story was just okay.

A very good little mystery

This is a well written mystery. The characters are developed despite the large cast, and they’re likable. The performance is really amazing! The accents are seamless and feel authentic. I look forward to the next in the series! And I LOVE Oliver!!
