Historia
Carly Summit grew up wealthy and privileged in a tiny Connecticut town, opened her own gallery in New York City, and is about to make art world history displaying previously unknown works by a prominent 20th-century painter. No wonder she possesses a can-do attitude that can't be soured. Ford Sinclair is another story. A military career in war-torn Africa, where he witnessed unspeakable violence and suffering, has left him haunted and deeply cynical. Now he's looking for a way to forget and a place to belong.

Threads in Life
Revisado: 09-07-14
I enjoyed the intertwining of the past and the present. This novel did an excellent job connecting the other novels across the lives of the people in this small town. One of my favorites in the series.

Emma Thomas’s struggle with an abusive home life came to a heart-pounding conclusion in the final chapters of Reason to Breathe, the first installment of the Breathing Series - Rebecca Donovan’s bestselling romantic-thriller (USA Today). Now her secret life has been exposed, and her tormentor can’t hurt her anymore. Yet some are still haunted by that night. The bruises may have faded, but scars and fears remain. How will she reclaim her life when she’s barely breathing?

Like Playing Twister
Revisado: 08-08-14
The story, although frustrating and emotional, is more true to life than the listener sometimes wants it to be. You ache for Emma but you get angry at some of her decisions regarding Jonathan. The loyalty of Sarah and Evan is honorable. The analogy to Twister is that RD does an excellent job of intertwining the characters' lives...actions...right/wrong...and doesn't loose the listener/readers pull to "hang in there". Look forward to the final book!

Historia
In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection - pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises, not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth - at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.

Captivating and Yet Cuts to Your Core
Revisado: 08-03-14
Rebecca Donovan did an outstanding job creating characters that could carry the severity of this topic and yet weave a support system that nurtured Emma's spirit with love and friendship. It is a story that makes you ache but RD keeps you listening because you want so much for Emma, Evan and Sarah to reach a resolution that they all so deserve after these years of hell! I love Kate Rudd...she is a phenomenal narrator and she is now one of my top two narrators...her and XE Sands! In my opinion, the narration will either make or break the book. This story line is so hard for me to listen to, especially being a parent and a teacher. Your soul feels bruised by the anger and hatred directed toward such an innocent child who has already lost so much and yet has kept a kind and loving heart! I highly recommend this book and am anxious to listen to the second book in the series!

Check Mate...Game and Match to True Love
Revisado: 06-20-14
Sometimes our hearts make a wish that seems like the real deal when in reality it is just a connection that may or may not be true friendship. Honor lives up to her name and lives her life with an inner call to doing what is right...above her own needs and the call from her "eggs". I thoroughly enjoyed this novel because its story line wound around so many curves that my interest never waned. Amy Rubinate does a superb job narrating this novel and provides the perfect accents for both the young and old characters as well as Tom's English accent. I also appreciated the touch of humor. I connected to it within my families relationships. Take the time and enjoy a great novel!

Sea Swept Starts Adrift but Builds Into Full Sails
Revisado: 12-06-13
For me, the beginning took some time to get wrapped into but once I got there, the plot was very rich with characters whose personalities are deeper than their initial introductions. I am looking forward to Part 2. I loved David Stuart's narration...he did an excellent job even when he read for the female characters. It is worth your purchase and time:)

No Fun...Only FRUSTRATION
Revisado: 11-16-13
Some people may enjoy the "victim" attitude but I just get ticked off. This novel just made me angry at the "damsel in distress". I am not saying some listeners may not enjoy this novel but my personality doesn't allow me to do so. The plot was well developed and all the elements of a talented author are present. I am also one who likes to leave a novel with closure and although this one had a definite conclusion, I was still fumming after it was over. I have enough stress in my day, my novels need to help me unwind and not get wound up:)

Historia
In this number one New York Times best-selling novel of first love and second chances, former high school sweethearts confront the painful truths of their past to build a promising future - together. In the spring of 1984, high school students Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole fell deeply, irrevocably in love. Though they were from opposite sides of the tracks, their love for one another seemed to defy the realities of life in their small town in North Carolina. But as the summer of their senior year came to a close, unforeseen events would tear the young couple apart.

Loved It! I listened to the whole novel in one day...Sparks did a masterful job of leading the listener through the characters' thoughts and actions...allowing you to predict outcomes but often the expected...would twist and create emotions that you didn't anticipate. The narration was perfect and this is well worth your time!

Wonder is Wonderous!!!
Revisado: 10-24-13
This was the first novel that I have ever listened to 5 times!!!! It is expertly crafted and the characters connect just like lego pieces...each event is developed into a 3-D experience from the characters' differing viewpoints of single events. Palacio is an artist by how she accomplished this without boring the reader/listener. Instead, the audience becomes capitivated by August Pulman and his family and friends. Life's lessons are highlighted but not in a preachy way....rather in a true to life way. You learn them through the lives of children. This book will live as a classic...one to keep and share with the generations, highlighting humanities dark side but illuminating the good in all of us!

Is This the Secret Garden?
Revisado: 10-24-13
The narrator did a wonderful job but I was highly disappointed that this is just a remake of The Secret Garden. There is such a HUGE parallel to The Secret Garden that it angered me. I don't know how Potter got away with this remake. I teach school and even our librarian was amazed that they would publish and then rate this book so highly. I loved the Secret Garden and although the plot is wonderful...it was already done!

Eternity of Love...Brevity of Life
Revisado: 10-24-13
Take a ride with two different lives and be amazed at how intertwined our lives are in this world. This was my first Sparks novel and I was so pleased to have found another author that will rank in my top ten list. He keeps the listener interested and doesn't allow you to lull into numbness with long platitudes. I gave the performance a three only because the story was so powerful that I really was upset that the younger male character's voice was done by a female narrator. He was such a strong personality and he deserved a male narrator. It is still worth the purchase and listen...I highly recommend this book!
