Really interesting
Revisado: 06-30-24
It rang true to me. I read it over a long course of time though and by the time I got to the end I felt like I'd need to reread it, and maybe read the paper version for it to sink in. I liked the narration though, I found it very listenable which I don't always find with audiobooks.

Historia
When a high-conflict person has one of five common personality disorders - borderline, narcissistic, paranoid, antisocial, or histrionic - they can lash out in risky extremes of emotion and aggression. And once an HCP decides to target you, they're hard to shake. But there are ways to protect yourself. Using empathy-driven conflict management techniques, Bill Eddy, a lawyer and therapist with extensive mediation experience, will teach you to spot warning signs of the five high-conflict personalities in others and in yourself.

Very useful and easy to listen to
Revisado: 03-14-23
I found this super helpful. I thought it was more helpful and actionable than another audiobook about covert narcissism. I also found I was able to listen to and focus on the narration, which I have trouble with in a lot of audiobook.
This is great reading before you get into a situation where you'll really need this, because you can find out what types of people to avoid and how to treat them. It's harder if you read this book if you've already got into a relationship with one of these types of people, but still useful, especially if you aren't sure if you can trust someone etc.

Up to 40% of people consider themselves shy. You might say you're introverted or awkward, or that you're fine around friends but just can't speak up in a meeting or at a party. Maybe you're usually confident but have recently moved or started a new job, only to feel isolated and unsure. If you get nervous in social situations - meeting your partner's friends, public speaking, standing awkwardly in the elevator with your boss - you've probably been told, "Just be yourself!" But that's easier said than done - especially if you're prone to social anxiety.

Pretty good
Revisado: 06-06-22
A lot of information that I've already come across, but probably a great introduction for someone who has just started trying to figure out some of their struggles, or a young person.
The narrating was good although not quite my ideal narration experience, but still good because I was able to listen to the whole book.

Historia
We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath.

Sucked in by the preview
Revisado: 05-27-22
I listened to the preview and was curious where the story was going. Usually I am not as interested in the story of a non fiction book but I found these stories interesting, and I also thought it was narrated well.
I thought the pacing was a bit strange, because I thought the book was coming to a close earlier than I expected, but then realized there were still a lot more chapters left. I was glad because I still wanted more information. I didn't find the very end of the book to be super valuable, but other than that I was fascinated by the whole thing.

Excellent and engaging
Revisado: 04-21-22
Not what I expected, in a good way. It's not a book I would have read but it was recommended by someone I really respect. Very thought-provoking, Josh takes two disciplines that are seemingly very different, and shows how what he learned is applicable to everything.

Revisado: 04-20-22
Useful but I can imagine having a copy of the book or a printed cheatsheet summarizing the book would be helpful for turning the book into action. I didn't find myself having any realizations while listening, but I think having listened to the book and then later having a list of ways to tackle problems would be useful in specific situations.
This book is about to to get more clarity on specific problems, so in a way it helps you become more decisive. I was attracted by the title because I'm an indecisive person, this book didn't make anything click to change that about me but I will see if I can keep a list handy so that I remember how to generate different solutions to problems, or how to narrow down solutions.

Very good, nice and slow to learn properly
Revisado: 08-05-20
It's slow but I like it because I have time to think of the answers and feel like I'm properly learning rather than rushing, in the pimsleur courses it feels a bit rushed and I feel like I've missed some grammar

Really good for learning German, however I'm brushing up on it it might be a lot harder if you don't already know some details about masculine, feminine, and neutral articles etc, however I think you would still learn but might need to learn gar from another source. Maybe after lev1 they will begin going into it more

Good listen, different take on why we get fat, helped me make some changes. Not sure if he's correct on everything but it makes more sense than trying to cut calories without thinking of anything else.

This is one of those books that I find really easy to listen to and get through the whole thing. Lots of great tips, but I think the fact that I actually wanted to listen to this one was important for me.
