Historia
There is much at stake in God making humanity male and female. Created for one another yet distinct from each other, a man and a woman are not interchangeable — they are designed to function according to a divine fittedness. But when this design is misunderstood, ignored, or abused, there are dire consequences.

Another winner from DeYoung. Reading from Ton Parks was easy to follow, though if you really want to check his exegesis you probably want a physical copy of the book

What do you do when you disagree with other Christians? How do you determine which convictions are negotiable and which are not? How do you get along with people who have different personal standards? All of these questions have to do with the conscience. Yet there is hardly a more neglected topic among Christians.

left too many unanswered questions
Revisado: 01-29-21
For someone with a weak conscience this book didn't really address the issue of if you feel something is sin based on your conviction that the Bible says it's sin but someone else doesn't how do you navigate that.

Historia
In 1960, Ishmael Reed, then an aspiring young writer, interviewed Malcolm X for a local radio station in Buffalo, and the encounter cost Reed his job and changed his life. In Malcolm and Me, Reed, the author of such classic novels as Mumbo Jumbo and the winner of a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship, reveals a side of Malcolm X the public has never seen before, and explores how the civil rights firebrand influenced his own views on working and living and speaking out, and left a mark on generations of artists and activists.

it's a book I wanted to like but like other reviewers said, it's a ton of names and dates and it was hard to follow. also I never quite got whether he thought Malcom X was to be respected or otherwise.

Revisado: 02-11-20
I was a little disappointed initially because I thought it was just RC Sproul reading his book, but in reality it is just all the 22 minute lectures combined. Once I got over that it was a very good listen. 5 Stars for content, but only 4 stars because it wasn't what I expected.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

Listen with discernment
Revisado: 10-18-19
Very interesting book. Lots of history that isn't well know. A few complaints why I couldn't rate it higher. First each chapter is like a little book so there are credits after every chapter which is annoying. Second the book has a political party slant towards Democrats. I wish people would just share the truth fairly but anytime Republicans did something wrong it was noted the Republicans held up the process. But if it was a Democrat it would just be the person's name but his or her party affiliation was not mentioned. Just be consistent.

Walter Wangerin's profound fantasy concerns a time when the sun turned around the earth and the animals could speak, when Chauntecleer the Rooster ruled over a more or less peaceful kingdom. What the animals did not know was that they were the Keepers of Wyrm, monster of evil long imprisoned beneath the earth ... and Wyrm, sub terra, was breaking free.

Revisado: 06-27-19
I found the story, and caracter development really well done. It was easy to listen to and I really felt immersed into the story. The only criticism that I have is that I found it hard to place the underlying meaning of the story. Its not supposed to be an allegory but with so many allegorical featuresnit was hard not to treat it as one.

The Death of Death in the Death of Christ

Historia
The Death of Death in the Death of Christ is a polemical work designed to show, among other things, that the doctrine of universal redemption is unscriptural and destructive to the Gospel. Those who see no need for doctrinal exactness and have no time for theological debates that show divisions between evangelicals may well regret its reappearance. Some may find the very sound of Owen's thesis so shocking that they will refuse to consider his book at all.

Great book, not so much for the narrator
Revisado: 04-20-19
This book makes Limited Atonement clear from both the biblical and logical perspective. He deals with the tough "all" texts too. Also it's the appropriate amount of reading the Scripture references and just referencing the verses. The narrator was rough though, mispronouncing Gospel as "gosapul"and the book of Job as "job"

Seldom does a book have the impact of Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow. Since it was first published in 2010, it has been cited in judicial decisions and has been adopted in campus-wide and community-wide reads; it helped inspire the creation of the Marshall Project and the new $100 million Art for Justice Fund; it has been the winner of numerous prizes, including the prestigious NAACP Image Award; and it has spent nearly 250 weeks on the New York Times best seller list.

I disagree with many "solutions", but still good!
Revisado: 01-06-19
This book is eye opening to many of the injustices that exist in our society today. I enjoyed reading this even as a white conservative. I appreciate how the author is fair and even handed in assigning blame for the reason we are where we are today (even taking some herself). Although I disagree with many of her conclusions (legalizing marijuana for example), it really gets the dialogue going about where injustice exists and let's think about what we can do to eliminate it. As Dr. King stated "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere". Recommend this book to people who want to learn more about racial injustice in America.

Just a few minutes into the book and you'll be convicted. Another excellent work by Keller that exalts the Gospel of grace. Helpful to find idols in your own heart. Narrator was a little hard to follow at first (dry) but by the end it was no problem.
