Narration is aweful

I absolutely love Tony Evans and this book is full of great knowledge, however the message is lost through the horrific robotic narration. Tony Evans should always narrate his own books.

Historia
Astroball is the inside story of how a gang of outsiders went beyond the stats to find a new way to win. When new Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and his top analyst, the former rocket scientist Sig Mejdal, arrived in Houston in 2011, they had already spent more than half a decade trying to understand how human instinct and expertise could be blended with hard numbers. Astroball is the story of the next wave of thinking in baseball and beyond, at once a remarkable underdog story and a fascinating look at the cutting edge of evaluating and optimizing human potential.

Excellent!

This book is excellent. For die hard Astros fans it’s a summation of “The Process” we all hoped and prayed would work throughout those 100+ loss years. For those who weren’t aware of what the Astros were doing since 2011 and just thought they were the “Lastros”, this book will walk you through how it all culminated with a World Series Win in 2017. I don’t think you even need to be a huge baseball fan to enjoy this book.

Historia
An inside look at the 2017 Houston Astros championship season, focusing on the epic seven-game World Series, the front office decisions that built a winning team, and the resilience of the city in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. On November 1, 2017, the Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in an epic seven game battle to become 2017 World Series champs. For the Astros, the combination of a magnificently played series, a 101-victory season, and the devastation Hurricane Harvey brought to their city was so incredible it might give Hollywood screenwriters pause.

Texas history is American history

Why didn’t anyone correct Jamie Renell’s pronunciation of the city “Pearland” and the river “San Jacinto”???? It’s very annoying and takes away from the story, at least for a local who knows better. Besides that blemish, this is a great book. I love the accounting of the Astros season and the storms devastating effects but also the thoughtful historical reflections throughout the book. Great job!
